Tom might have a problem with the RSA because Hobbs hasn’t got anything in it.
January 31, 2012 at 12:39 #389165Can’t see 5-2 anywhere for Sprinter Sacre.
If this were the £1m drop, most of my money would be on Sprinter Sacre.
However, for the purposes of this, i’m pickingFor Non Stop 1pt e/way at 25-1.
On stiff tracks, he’s only just been beaten by Al Ferof and was a good second to Grand Crus over hurdles.
I think Sprinter Sacre could test a few of the more fancied runners and FNS could well place. Any mishaps to the favourite and he’s an excellent chance of winning.
He’s going for the Scilly Isles and then the Jewson.
How sure are you / where have you read this ?
I thought he might but he’s low enough on the exchanges for the Arkle

He’s Hobbs’ very own HGM
January 31, 2012 at 12:49 #389167Mark, I must be getting old, but what does HGM stand for?

Extremely reliable source on Twitter;
‘For Non Stop being aimed at the Scilly Isles this weekend before a tilt at the Grade 2 Jewson Novices at the Festival over 2m 5f’
He’s also trading at 12/12.5 for the Jewson.
January 31, 2012 at 16:28 #389188Who’s been putting this lot up, Segal or Hobbs?! That’s 3 out of 5 now!

Thanks & get it now…
February 1, 2012 at 05:46 #389250All of them should go for the Jewson. Better than wasting their time trying beat Sprinter Sacre.

You’de have to question whether Hobbs will actually risk Menorah over fences at the Festival. It was a soft fall last time but there’s definitely a screw loose with Menorah, like he lacks attention. I really thought early doors he’d be the one to beat before SS came on the scene but even if he wasn’t there you couldn’t fancy Menorah in your wildest dreams.
As far as I can see TS throws you know what at the wall and some sticks and he not tipping horses he’s tipping prices and playing the odds. Not knocking it but you need thick skin to follow him and to make sure you come out on top you have to back everything he puts up whether you think he off his trolly or not.
Menorah is the type of horse you know has a touch of class and could suddenly do everything right and the type which he seems to mostly depend on. Not the worst idea in the world when betting
February 1, 2012 at 10:00 #389263one of my favourites races of the meeting to watch sadly not been happy punting ground for me with Forpadytheplaster my only notable succes in 15 odd years of punting at Cheltenham , novies going hell for leather over these fences, needing a horse that jumps well and can travel comfortably at a fast pace.
i like the 8/1 generally for Cue Card, see if he can get in a rythem up at head of affairs –

I’ll be on First Lieutenant, 2pt @ 16/1 with Laddies.
February 1, 2012 at 12:02 #389281Wow ok, we’re starting early this week. But ye have to agree, since seeing him stay on so well to win the Neptune last year, I’ve fancied him to go further and be a potential RSA prospect.
First Lieutenant 2 point win@16/1 Various
February 1, 2012 at 12:48 #389292Hoping it doesn’t come up too quick;
Last Instalment, 8-1, 2 points win, generally available.
February 1, 2012 at 13:25 #389301I’d definitely want to be against Grands Crus if he runs. I said after the Feltham that I thought Bobs Worth would reverse the form at Cheltenham and I still feel that way. However, Bobs Worth is no price at the moment and ability wise I’d rate him on a par with First Lieutenant, who’s available at 16/1.
Last Instalment will be a huge danger but I’d be surprised if Davy got off First Lieutenant. I haven’t backed First Lieutenant yet this season and I’ve been with Last Instalment every day, but Cheltenham could be the place where the tables turn. I’m confident First Lieutenant will go off shorter than Last Instalment. I’d strongly consider backing Last Instalment on the day, when I believe he won’t be any shorter.
The one I’d be afraid of if he runs is Sir Des Champs. I think he’s going to be an absolute superstar, and whatever race he runs in he’ll win. If I owned him I’d definitely go for the RSA, but for personal financial reasons I hope he goes for the Jewson.

16/1Agree with all that Tommy, I’m a bit more confident than you that
Sir Des Champs
goes for the Jewson as both
Last Instalment
and the RSA winner
First Lieutenant
will be better suited to the stiffer test…..At this time of their respective careers i hasten to add!
February 1, 2012 at 16:06 #389325Blunkett, is there any time frame in which we have to select a pick? Quite frankly I wouldn’t be confident about any of the top 7 in the betting at the moment.
