They finished the race very slowly and it was almost certainly stamina rather than speed which had Binocular catching Celestial Halo.
January 10, 2012 at 08:57 #386254MarkTT: You need to watch last years race again, Oscars Well was beaten before the last, personally i think the fall was a tired horse type fall, it wouldn’t have helped having the cavalry coming at you from both sides though either!
Couldn’t have Oscars Well winning a Champion Hurdle myself, seems more he is going for some value rather than the winner, he does add that should Hurricane Fly turn up he is the most likely winner!! Good luck though if you jump aboard with Mr Pricewise on this one
January 10, 2012 at 08:59 #386255I presume his thinking is based on last years Neptune and that Oscars Well would have beaten Rock On Ruby, which is now 10-1.
Does anyone think there’s a chance of Zarkandar going for the Ascot Gold Cup ?
Given he needs softer ground than you normally get at Ascot in June and he is at least 2 stone inferior to Fame and Glory, he’d be more suited to the Queen Alexandra if he stayed that far.
January 13, 2012 at 12:29 #386719Here is the update list (so far). Darren83 didn’t state whether or not he wanted win or each way, so I’ve stitched him up and let it ride as a 2pt win. Feel free to correct me Dazzler!
A few entrants haven’t yet given a Champion Hurdle pick – you have until Monday evening to do so.

I believe Mr Seagull’s next selection is the QMCC, which will be printed next Tuesday. Feel free to post your selections as and when you feel. Although, its best to do it before Monday evening, as most bookies start to shorten up a couple of the Pricewise possibilites as they try and guess Tom’s choice.

January 13, 2012 at 12:46 #386723Sorry it’s not very interesting but this one looks about the only one you can say is signed sealed and delivered to me.
Sizing Europe 2 point win@5/2 with Paddy Power
January 13, 2012 at 12:50 #386724Can’t see past the two Irish market principals here, won’t be actually committing any cash until I’ve a good idea of the going on the day as that will play it’s part n whose victorious.
I think there pretty evenly matched and both have the crucial course/festival form so at the moment I’d lean towards the more consistent horse and the bigger price;
Big Zeb @ 5/1, 2 pts win with PP.
January 13, 2012 at 13:32 #386731This race looks like an Irish benefit again, unless Al ferof runs which will add an interesting aspect to the race. I don’t think Finians Rainbow is good enough. He was beaten in the Neptune and he was beaten in the Arkle, can’t see him winning a Champion Chase.
Realt Dubh’s a big price but would much rather see him run in the Ryanair where he’d be hard to beat imo. Al Ferof has looked good but this would be a massive step up. However, stranger things have happened and he’d have to have his chance should he run.
Big Zeb is one of my favorite horses in training as he always gives 100%. His jumping has improved to become his main asset and it’s difficult to separate him and Sizing Europe. The score is at 2-1 to Zeb and at the prices he is the one I prefer. He looks an each way bet to nothing.
Sizing Europe, as predicted, hacked up in the Tingle Creek, but things were set up perfectly for him. When Wishful Thinking took off like a scalded cat there was only going to be one winner due to his unbelievable cruising speed. He’s the reigning champ and deserves his place at the head of the market.
The one I like here is FORPADYDEPLASTERER. He has come back to near his best in his last two runs, a mistake at the final fence last time out effectively ending his chances. His best career runs have come at Cheltenham and there’s no doubt that the fast pace and likely quick ground will aid his cause.

Stan James & William HillJanuary 13, 2012 at 17:58 #386763I did go for Zarkander for CH at 8/1 e/w general on Jan 6 . For the Champion Chase it has to be Wishful Thinking 25/1 e/w Boylesports. I reckon Tom will pick this one as well.

All my tips are win bets mate i don’t do this EW caper myself all about the win it is.
January 13, 2012 at 21:40 #386781Gold Cup. Has to be Long Run, the two furlongs have to be in his favour and Kauto usually looks a little below his best at cheltenham along with the fact he is his age.
All the second season chasers are weak.
Quito for the place.

January 15, 2012 at 01:54 #386941I’m going to get high on my hog and assume that Tom’s going to go for the World Hurdle next.
I’ll get ahead of myself and give my tip, Dynaste for a place. Let’s be fair no one’s beating Big Buck’s. We’re here to pick the best of the rest.
Dynaste travelled gorgeously during the Long Walk but was obviously made to be the front runner to give Big Buck’s a race. This was never going to happen but Cheltenham could be his race.
Dynaste 1 point e/w@33/1 with SportingBet
