What a shame Tony Martin’s horse got beat there.
Poorly ridden by Davy Russell, out the back in a slowly run affair. Wouldn’t have used as much energy kept closer. Not sure Tudor City wanted to go through with it, gentleman of a horse “after you Sir”. But stable’s horses seem to be taught to do only what’s absolutely necessary anyway – taught things that don’t help them in a finish.Always looks good when these horses win, though suspect (overall) Tony Martin would do better if horses were ridden/trained more conventionally.

That depends on how you interpret “better”
Better to you may be worse to Tony Martin.
November 11, 2016 at 17:26 #1271959Tony Martin, Sir Mark Prescott, Jack and Lynda Ramsden, Mark Johnston and it’s spot the odd one out time…………, yes one of them wrote a book.
November 11, 2016 at 18:50 #1271971Don’t back his horses. And his horses are used to running as non triers so it is difficult for a horse to get used to going past horses when they are supposed to be on a trying day.

Meant worse for Martin. I do believe he can get them very fit, it’s just that trying to pull the wool over the handicapper’s eyes far too often has just meant the handicapper takes no chances. Had Tony Martin trained his horses more conventionally I think overall he’d have done a lot better. imo Could’ve been in Elliott’s class if he didn’t bugger about so much.
Value Is EverythingNovember 11, 2016 at 20:35 #1272035As the Two Ronnies once said of the world’s greatest conman (who appeared in court and sentenced the judge to 6 months) “Even the wool he pulls over your eyes is 50% nylon”

Very good Joe!
