At least Betfair return my ante post bet on Altior. Small bet on Castlegrace Paddy 12/1 instead.

If Henderson is so worried about the ground, where is he going to run the horse? I doubt he will get good to soft at Ascot in January or even Newbury in February. Looks like it will be Kempton on 27th December and then Cheltenham.

Fully sympathise with anyone who backed the horse ante post for this after Henderson’s comments. I appreciate he has taken the decision in the best interests of the horse but he clearly never thinks of punters. Those inconvenient people who bet on his precious horses and pay to keep the sport going.

There’s a nice 2m chase at Christmas on a left handed track which usually has good ground. It’s in Dublin.

Cork All Star – couldnt agree more. I am not arguing with the fact he pulled Altior, everyone has to make the correct decision by their horse but its the fact hes been waxing lyrical all week, no major ground concern warnings (that I have seen or read), declared him 48 hours before and then hasnt even walked the drying course. Just taking punters for mugs. If he had said at the start of the week, hes training well but we have concerns over the weather forecast, then fair enough but thats not the case. As I say I had a small bet (but did have a cash out option) so not the end of the world but for anyone else who put down big sums based on this weeks comments, I feel sorry for.

Thanks Clints and sorry that you lost your bet.

I am afraid to say Henderson emerges very badly from this. Apparently he told Unibet the horse was a non runner first. He has been criticised for doing this before. To do it again comes across as arrogant.

He has also upset the sponsor by effectively saying the Tingle Creek does not matter compared to Cheltenham. It is very disrespectful to Sandown to say so. Think of how many great races there have been in the Tingle Creek. Moscow Flyer once beat Azertyuiop and Well Chief in one of the highest quality steeplechases ever seen. But according to Henderson only Cheltenham matters.

“But according to Henderson only Cheltenham matters.”

To be fair, Henderson isn’t alone in thinking like that these days.

I know I am probably being mean now but did anyone else have a little smile when Henderson’s 2/11 chance got turned over? ;-)

In fact, he had two long odds-on shots beaten out of sight today. What bothers me the most, is that he never admits the stable being hit by the bug. It is December and he usually has winners galore by this time of the year, but it’s a different story this year with some of his horses. So, why shouldn’t a part of his string be affected by a virus?

I’m with Mike on Politologue but will give Castlegrace Paddy a good cheer too.

GG he did but there, still some work to be done on his jumping , when they missed the fence out he made the ground back up on the flat but a sloppy jump cost him ground at the next

What does Politologue have to do before someone says he is good without sneering? Martin Dixon was at it after the race today. I thought it was a really good performance.

And as far as I can see the ground did not look that bad. Politologue galloped strongly all the way to the line.

A horse can make a slight mistake and still win if they got a class edge.
