Good afternoon everyone.
Well after a very mixed week last week, here’s hoping things can get back on the winning trail again.
After one week the LPGA Ladies are already having what they might term a well earned rest
, a call I feel for more Tournaments for them and whatsmore the European Ladies are not on show for a couple of months now pending the odd appearance in the LPGA perhaps.Ok that’s a little gripe out of the way
, so we move onto this weeks fare and a couple of intriguing events I feel. This weeks round in The Race To Dubai takes in the Johnnie Walker Classic coming to you from Perth in good old Aussie land.
It features none other than Anthony Kim and Camilo Villegas and you get the feeling certainly in my case that one or the other will be right up there on Sunday.
Main Selection.
In the hope that the last three rounds of the Malaysian Open spur him on I am prepared this week to row in with Anthony Kim, not very original I know but I have a gut feeling that it could be his week.
Next Best.
Several warrant a mention here Paul Casey, Lee Westwood, Ian Poulter, the best chance of a home victory you feel Richard Green and having had a good week last week Alexander Noren, but I have decided after much deliberation to come down on the side of Johan Edfors, he had a good outing in this last year and has had a reasonable start to this year, In the hope that he can continue that I feel an interest this week might reap a good reward.
Longshots.
A couple here although betting wise they don’t figure to far down the order.
Firstly again after beginning to show signs of recapturing his form and given the rotten year he had last year it is understandable given the circuimstances involved that he would take time to get over it, but there were enough signs last week to suggest that he may be just beginning to, in the hope that is the case we could be celebrating a victory this week with Nick Dougherty.
My final choice here is due in main to where he figures in the market, I must confess to not knowing an awful lot about him but somebody must, so given his proximity to the market leaders a bold showing seems on the cards from Danny Lee.
The PGA Tour this week takes in the Northern Trust Open coming again from California, here’s hoping that the weather of last week has moved on.
An extremely open market here and it might surprise a few but again I feel the market leaders might hold sway this week.
Main selection.
I have to begin with Phil Mickelson and Padraig Harrington as my main choices here, as with Anthony Kim not very original i know.
At the moment in Phil Mickelson’s case it is fair to say he is having a bit of a mare and how long it is going to continue for is anybody’s guess, it was a good call from Pete to go with him at the time last week unfortunately it did not come off, here’s hoping he will follow him in this week because you feel the light will switch on at some point, given the odds available this week as with Padraig Harrington’s in my case I feel it is time to board the ship just to see what transpires man overboard in my case
given they have done well here in the past, missed cuts now await
.Next Best.
As with the Johnnie Walker several candidates here, Mike Weir who knows what may have happened had the final round been played at the AT&T, in saying that he does not do too bad there so depending on what frame of mind he is in after that who knows.
Geoff Ogilvy, Luke Donald, Vijay Singh, Zach Johnson, Kenny Perry and Tim Clark could all conceivably go home victorious come Sunday but I am prepared to go again with Jim Furyk who it has to be said had a trot around last week, very daring of me to say
, in the hope that has got rid of the cobwebs he too could be hopefully in my case be going home victorious come Sunday evening.Longshots.
Sorry guys two here who need no introduction to regular viewers so I won’t prolong the agony here the chaps in question Bubba Watson and Lucas Glover.
As always whatever your picks Be Lucky.
Cheers.
Adrian.

The Race to Dubai takes a trip to Perth, Australia this week for the
Johnnie Walker Classic
.
Anthony Kim & Camilo Villegas are both exciting young players and either could win this without playing at their best. However Anthony has not been playing well recently following an injury and Camilo often plays his best at courses he is very familiar with so at the odds on offer, I will not be backing either of them which should guarantee that one of them will win
Instead my money is onPaul Casey
to continue his recent good form which includes a win in Abu Dhabi and a 4th place in the Dubai Classic. He has won an event in Australia in the past and this course should suit his style of play.
I am backingFrancesco Molinari
again even though he missed the cut in Malaysia but he will hopefully have worked on improving his game and has played well on this course previously when finishing 6th.
Alexander Noren
gave me a good run for my money last week and I’m hoping for a repeat performance with the added bonus of a win and my other selection at odds of 110/1 is
Robert Jan Derksen
.
The pga season continues with the
Northern Trust Open
. Last week I unsuccessfully backed Phil Mickelson to return to form and this week I’m backing another top player to win after a moderate start to the year.
Padraig Harrington
missed the cut at Pebble Beach but he has stated that the course at the Northern Trust is one of his favourites on the pga circuit and he has finished in the top 10 in his last two appearances. He will be working hard on his game to regain his top form.
I’ve backedLuke Donald
twice this year already and I’ve decided to stick with him this week as he finished 3rd in this event last year and he was looking likely to be involved in the finish last time out at the Buick until dropping 4 shots in the middle of the final round to end up with 7th place.
Zach Johnson
has been in such good form in recent months with a couple of victories that I cannot leave him out on a course which rewards accuracy and does not seem to benefit the longer hitters.
I backedJeff Quinney
to win this event last year. He has been badly out of form for a while but showed a glimmer of a return to form at Pebble Beach and he also likes the course at the Northern Trust with a 9th place in 2007 and a runner up finish in 2008 helped by a lucky hole in one. He will be a popular outsider with some punters including me
Finally I’m hoping for a return to form withTrevor Immelman
who is capable of producing a winning performance from nowhere as he showed when winning the Masters last year.
Happy punting

Pete

I don’t have a main fancy for this so I’m going each way on three players. Firstly I’m chancing
Colin Montgomerie
to take some confidence forward from his good showing LTO. Secondly
Shiv Kapur
who also played a little better last week and finally
Mark Foster
who has played consistently recently. I might just have a place only only
Chris Rodgers
if the price is right.
AT&T
No strong fancy here either but main bet will be
Robert Allenby
who has performed well at this tournament 4 out of the last 5 years. 3 outsiders, firstly one of Pete’s choices
Jeff Quinney
who has been top ten finish the last two years,
JJ Henry
who has played well here previously and
Carl Petterson
who is due a top ten finish.
Best of luck to all
