Morning Campers, especially to Swallow Cottage and all fellow Golf followers.

Well for me an interesting Batch of events to sort out this week, so without further ado it’s eyes down hopefully for a full house

Will begin with the HSBC at Wentworth, having tried in vain to get Ernie to oblige for about the last month i feel 7/2 generally is for me a tad short so it’s with a huge amount of regret room 101 on this occasion allthough have plenty of Eggs in the fridge come sunday should i need them.

One could not fail to be impressed with the way Paul Casey went about sorting every one out last year and if in the same mood will take some stopping, but for me Pod and Henrik Stenson will do for me although you could just about say that any one of them can win.

Moving on to the Madrid Open and i see 20’s the field in places, 2 for me to go to war with are Thoma Bjorn in the hope that his new post can spur him on and Rory Mcilroy who without wishing to get to carried away at the moment i feel that the Emerald Isle have got a new kid on the block if not for what’s left this year certainly the next and beyond.

Moving Stateside for the frys Open and fresh from his win recently in the Presidents Cup over the great one here’s hoping for an upturn in fortunes for Mike Weir, the back up coming from Daniel Chopra and after an encouraging run last week will side with Dean Wilson again.

On now to the Elder Statesman and i’m afraid the dynamic duo of Messrs Funk and Langer hold sway again along with Mark O’Meara.

Finally for those of you who have any interest in the Ladies and the Samsung World Championship, Lorena having come up just short the last two weeks will be hungry to put the record straight but not for me at the prices, will go into battle here with Paula Creamer, Maria Hjorth and Angela Park.

Well hope i have not bored every one but any thoughts greatly appreciated and as always whatever carries your burden Good Luck.

Thought you were a bit unlucky last week wakeman with Ernie Els as he looked like he might win until making a real mess at one of the final holes which was unlike him. I think that if he had not done that then Dougherty might have struggled as he looked less than confident over the final 2 holes but had a 2 shot lead to spare.
Anyway I am not a big fan of matchplay but did manage to pick Stenson when he won one in the USA earlier this year which is a bit of a miracle. Stenson has started to show a glimmer of his early season form lately but I don’t think he likes Wentworth too much. Ernie should do well but he’s still not putting as good as he used to.
My money is going on Justin Rose who played better than I expected last week and was a runner up at Wentworth earlier this season. 7/1 looks fair value and I expect him to beat the less experienced Mahan in the first round even though Mahan has a good future on the US tour imo.

I do follow the euro tour but not as closely as the US tour and there is nobody I really fancy to win in Madrid this week so I will not bet on the Madrid open……..which will no doubt save me some money :)

The Frys Open is a par 72 course and is another one of those US courses which produces a lot of birdies and like last week it may be a matter of which player is hottest with the putter. Last week Parnevik bought a new putter just before the tournament and liked it so much that he nearly won the event. This week I’ll go with John Mallinger again as he has been playing well recently and his best form has come on the par 72 courses. I think Mallinger is capable of winning one of these lesser tournaments. My other choice is Nick Watney who did me a big favour when winning earlier this year and he played well last week after having a months rest from the tour. He putted very well in the final round last week which is encouraging.

Good luck to wakeman in the Elder statesman which I know little about……if I was going to have a bet then Langer would be the one. I hope Lorena wins the ladies event but my money will not be on her which gives her a great chance of victory.

Putting is usually Justin Rose’s strong point but today he putted like a penguin and Mahan liked Wentworth a lot more than I expected him to so my betting interest in the matchplay is over already.

Mallinger is playing awful in the USA so my only interest this weekend is going to be on Nick Watney who has made a reasonable start.

Good luck to wakeman with his bets……..can’t do much worse than me so far :(
