One good thing in politics is that when it comes to fighting the extremes – there is more that unites us moderates than divides us.

I must admit I am never better disposed towards Tories than when they are denouncing the far right.

Whether they feel the same way about a centre left bloke like me denouncing the far left only they will know.

    Of course.
    Why wouldn’t we?
As I said, there is more that unites us moderates than divides us.

If Labour got rid of all their extreme left then in certain circumstances they could even get my vote. :good:

You see I don’t think Labour has an “extreme left” any more than I think the Tories has an “extreme right.”

Corbyn et al are unelectably left, but to bracket him with Putin and Stalin is about as nuts as bracketing Thatcher (most right wing PM I’ve known) with Mussolini.

    That’s my issue.

As I said, I don’t bracket Corbyn with Stalin.

Corbuns two main advisers were apologists and supporters for Stalin and (unbelievably) present North Korea.

Rental is an (excellent) left leaning independent journal

Corbyn also writes for the Morning Star and has a record of only kind words for authoritarian regimes either hard left or fascistic right but never been traced supporting western liberalism

Any Tory mp who had such links with defenders of Hitler would be banished in no time.

…And how Labour’s extreme left has blamed Britain, USA and NATO for Putin’s attack on Ukraine.

I’d like to show you the clips but they’ve all been taken down.

Corbyn was quoted as stating that he “agreed with everything Seamus Milne says”

Seamus Milne has been a long time supporter of Putin and has worked directly for him. Easy to find the detail online

Also this was reported in many papers

That by Abbott was laughed at and maybe rightly so but you do have to ask why someone with that extremely warped view (which isn’t funny frankly) could come close to being Home Secretary

The lovely Angela writes for the Express (they can see which way the tide is turning) but I wouldn’t say she’s a Tory.

Advisers-schmisers: Too tenuous a link for me – Corbyn is an unelectable leftie, but he’s no Putin or Stalin.

Worst he’d have done is run up even more public debt that occurred in the Pandemic.

Jezza wouldn’t have needed Covid as an excuse to spend, spend, spend.

If a tory leaders two main advisors were supporters of hitler and the KKK then it would be an issue

    Its precisely the same

He picks advisors in line with his views (they all do) and he’s had an easy ride on that IMO. He’s directly quoted his agreement with Milne on “everything”

Corbyn’s support for genoicdal authoritarian regimes was too often overlooked

Milne wrote a famous piece strongly supporting the 9 /11 attacks

He cant be a Putin or Stalin because we have the institutions to stop that and he didn’t have a grip on the Labour Party.

In fairness he has condemned Putin in more recent times but I am certain that he is opposed to democracy and hostile to basic human rights and Freedoms. There is a lot of evidence in the regimes that he slavishly supports

And thats before we get to his racism issues

    That’s just a front, Gladders.

Look, it’s pretty clear that, at some point in 2019 someone said to Corbyn and McDonald that Foot’s 83 manifesto was the longest suicide note in history.

To which the pair cried in outraged unison: “We’re not having that! Hold our beer!”

But I do find all the suggestions Corbyn is some sort of Putin wannabe a bit hysterical – as in actual hysteria, not humour.

He was a well meaning, but unelectable leftie who couldn’t run a bath.

That said, against May he got more votes than Blair got in any of his three election wins.

But, err, May got even more.
