December 29, 2004 at 18:51 #56166Ouch!!!
I’m sacking that damn stockbroker!
December 30, 2004 at 12:07 #56167Ouch indeed!
Two non-runners and the rest were losers. That’s a total expenditure for the day of £428.40 leaving the bank at £137.16.
This means that the bank will only handle three more bets of £50.40, £53.20 and then the remainder of £33.56. Looks like it’s goodbye to this little experiment.
Lingfield
12.20 Quantum Leap
12.50 Tayif

*= opportunity to make a tit of myself by suggesting that these are the more likely of the selections to be winners. It only gets rid of five horses from the list today but may be worth keeping an eye on for the future.

It’s a definite rule change now – the amount of winners required will now be one less than the amount of meetings. Today there’s four meetings so we need three winners. If only it was as simple to do as it is to explain. ;) ÂÂÂ
Monday’s selections:
Wetherby
12.00 Mooramana
12.30 Dance Party *
1.00 Brown Teddy *
1.30 Lirta *
2.05 Armaturk
2.40 Point *
3.10 Contract Scotland *
3.40 Elverys

Starting stake = £2.30
I’ve starred the selections from which I predict the winners will come again. Last time it worked out to be correct, let’s just hope it continues as it could knock off a lot of useless selections and increase profits. Somehow I doubt it will be that simple though …
January 3, 2005 at 18:58 #56174Well done, Dave. You are hanging on, chiefly because you are quite a good tipster, or have access to a decent set of selections.
You may remember I mentioned Mitch Lewis in an earlier post. Mitch won the Racing Post tipster’s competition from an entry of about ten thousand. He had a purple patch during the contest and could do nothing wrong.
Part of the prize was to be entered into the paper’s own press tipping challenge which carries a substantial cash prize. Mitch set off like a house on fire with a 25/1 winning nap on the second day.
Well, he must have angered the betting gods with his audacity because since that blinding flash of inspiration, he has suffered a run of 33 consecutive losers. It reminded me of Keats’ famous lines:
My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings.
Look upon my works ye mighty and despair.
A lesson to us all.
January 4, 2005 at 08:43 #56175Artemis, I was hoping to have proven that loss-recovery staking is the downfall of all who travel there but the bloody thing just won’t die! ;) ÂÂÂ
