This was the horses third run over hurdles this evening. First two runs ridden prominently and ran well on both occasions. Tonight out the back from the start and never put in the race. In the last 24 hurdle races run over 2m 4f at Roscommon 19 winners were at or towards the front, the other 5 were no further back than mid division, so why would you ever want your horse who’s the favourite out the back? It drifted from 4/5 to evens oncourse, God knows what happened on the exchanges.

The horse did pull up and was dismounted and I sincerely hope its ok.

Doesn’t alter the fact that it was out the back from the start though.

Id be interested in the views of anyone else who saw the race.

    Hi CR,

First of all, I will tell you I did back the horse.

I backed the horse on the strength of Dessie Hughe’s ATR interview were he was ever so bullish, in fact, Matt Chapman interpruted the interview as Dessie almost thinking that it was a penalty kick.

I missed the start of the race as I was watching Emmerdale  – but I turned over and the horses were running. I didn’t know the colours but as the commentator went through the order, I thought where the hell is the fav? He never mentioned the horse for ages, until it was commented that it was 2nd last, then it was commented that it was pulled up.

I just thought it was very strange as like you, I believe most of the fancied runners in big Irish fields always race prominent. This horse has been ridden prominent in its first few runs as you say, so to see it dossing in the rear was a bit odd. Maybe the jock noticed something was wrong from an early stage and therefore held it up – but if that was the case, then why not pull it up earlier. It was all a bit odd to say the least.

I can’t comment on the acttual race but Teffia Native’s previous runs suggest she’s less than genuine. She planted herself at the start at Kilbeggan behind Uncle Junior at Kilbeggan in June and tossed her rider at Fairyhouse in a race won by I Don’t Know before being withdrawn.

Don’t get me wrong, I am not suggesting anything untoward – I just wish I had Sky +’d Dessie’s ATR interview as I am almost certain he said it would be ridden as it had been in it’s last two starts (handy) as he had discovered the key to the horse.

Dessie was ever so confident about a win today, yet as far as I know the horse was always in rear. I have read the RP’s comments and there was nothing there to suggest it was at the back for a reason, other than the jockey just putting it there lol. It was always in the rear and made a mistake at the 6th, it was then pulled up dismounted. The question you have to ask is why did the trainer come on ATR and say he fancied it strongly and that it would be ridden handy, only for the jockey to have it well in the rear for most of the way before pulling it up. And like I said, if the jock had it in the rear because he thought something was wrong, then why take 7 or 8 flights (2 miles) to pull it up. All a bit odd.

always towards rear, mistake 6th, pulled up before 4 out, dismounted

Maybe there was something wrong with the horse?

    Sorry Reet,

But I thought this was a forum 8)

Apologies, I will stop posting my opinions from now on for your sake

Can I ask you a question in public – what the hell is your problem with me? Or are you always this hostile to new members?

Didn’t look to be going all that well in rear and when the jockey asked her to make a final effort to get closer appeared to make a jolting mistake at a hurdle, perhaps the final nail in the coffin.
