Just took the 8/11 on Ribchester even after Churchill was a N/R
Skybet appear to have totally lost the plot.
8/11 for what should now be a 4/9 shot
August 2, 2017 at 15:35 #1312497Gone in again for Lightning Spear 7.4/1 still first three.
Value Is EverythingAugust 2, 2017 at 15:38 #1312498Ribchester’s price is drifting. Interesting.
August 2, 2017 at 15:43 #1312499You gotta be kidding me.
August 2, 2017 at 15:45 #1312500On dear lord.
Oldest ever winner, and probably worst winner of all time.
Well done BigG. Commiserations to the many on here who lost money on Ribchester who’d probably have won with a different ride.
August 2, 2017 at 15:47 #1312502Great stuff BigG!
August 2, 2017 at 15:47 #1312501Well done Steeple and BigG,

But what was Buick doing, stopped riding?
Value Is EverythingAugust 2, 2017 at 15:50 #1312503Ambitious for Frankie to try to nip up Ribchester’s inside but I don’t think Zelzal had much left anyway.
Wow, Here Comes When. I think I gave up on him after he failed to land a few soft ground 7f Listed/G3 races when I was on a couple of years ago! What a shout from the guys who were on.
August 2, 2017 at 15:52 #1312504Well done to those who backed the winner , whose jockey took full advantage of the conditions and Will Buick’s eccentric handling of the favourite .
Johnny Murtagh more or less said that Buick made a complete a*se of it . Hard to disagree with that assertion .
Gambling Only Pays When You're Winning
August 2, 2017 at 15:52 #1312505By the looks of the weather report, it’s going to be pretty testing today at Goodwood.
If it turns properly soft, there’s only two horses that will benefit from those conditions,
Ribchester, who should surely win, and HERE COMES WHEN. Of the others,
Lightening Spear has run well enough on it, but only the first two have actually won on
soft. Now I know that Here Comes When, under normal circumstances, wouldn’t get a blow in
here, but with the likely conditions, and in light of the fact that Goodwood has thrown up
some rather odd results this week, I don’t think you can dismiss him getting into the place
money at 80/1. His last two wins were at York in May this year and Bath last September, both
on G/S. His three previous wins, albeit in 2014, were all on soft. The only two horses in the
race that have won on soft, are Ribchester and Here Comes When. The only time Churchill
encountered soft ground, he was beaten, albeit 1st time out, into 3rd. The winner and 2nd
that day have raced 21 times between them since then, with one win between them.I don’t think Here Comes When will win this, Ribchester should, but at 80/1,
surely he has got to be worth the chance of a place.Well done mate
August 2, 2017 at 15:53 #1312506Well done Steeple and BigG,

But what was Buick doing, stopped riding?
Did he think the horse had gone wrong?
He knows the horse idles in front, so should’ve known he’d need to go for the whip.
Seemed to give up, then belatedly went for the whip and closed all the way to the line.Value Is EverythingAugust 2, 2017 at 15:56 #1312507To be fair to Buick, the horse’s wellbeing should always come first and he looked to have that in mind a furlong out before realising that even though he was easing down he was actually closing so he went for it.
August 2, 2017 at 15:56 #1312508Bloody hell.
Well done winners.
My nan with a 50/1 winner for the second day in a row. I literally have no idea what’s happening with this meeting.
That race earlier over 1m 4f and the godolphin horse kicked with 4f to go on soft ground. It’s bonkers.
That ride from Buick. Bonkers. Go to the rails for crying out loud.
But, as I said, well done winners
August 2, 2017 at 16:20 #1312510Many thanks all. I know he’s not the type of horse to win this, very far from it,
but with the deluge that was forecast it turned it into a different race altogether.
I’ll be honest, I’m surprised that he beat Ribchester, but they were the two that had
winning form on properly soft ground. Well done Joe for lumping on too
A dog with 2 tails sums it up
August 2, 2017 at 20:05 #1312542Well done BigG and Steeplechasing, great pick.
Richard Fahy’s faced pretty much summed up the tactics on Ribchester….
Gaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
August 2, 2017 at 21:41 #1312557Seen the race several times now, clear to me Ribchester idled (just as he did at Ascot) and yet Buick gave up. Very easy on him until realising only too late. Should’ve won by a length or more with a stronger ride.
Value Is EverythingAugust 2, 2017 at 22:47 #1312564Well done G and Joe
