Wouldn’t be so quick to write off speed horses as a lot of the furlong times clocked were in the high 14s almost 15s, so they went a even gallop on the front to the point where they were able to quicken off the front. Despite that the overall time was only slow by 1.36s
You have to be a bit special to be able to quicken past quickening horses off just an even gallop and those hold up horse weren’t good enough to win from back there.

March 10, 2026 at 13:52 #1757969Hard to say there is a Champion Hurdler amongst that lot – the winner and the third look like chasers all day every day and so Sober Glory could be the one to stick to hurdles but even he (on the dam side) is related to 2½-3m chasers and he also won his PTP over 3m.
Given the Champion Hurdle scene though at the moment they would be crazy not to at least try him next season to see where he stacks up as they can always go chasing after if he is not up to Champion Hurdle level.
March 10, 2026 at 13:57 #1757971Talk the Talk made some mistakes early on but was still beaten too far out to have run to anywhere near his best but El Cairos who I thought should have been there or thereabouts was comparatively well beaten.
