“Ill be surprised if that wasnt the supreme winner.”
A pacemaker for Jonbon?. ;o)
January 16, 2022 at 12:48 #1578349Oh yes Mike he would be the perfect pacemaker for Jonbon. Seeing as Jonbon is crying out for them to go a gallop. Jonbon should be fav now Dysart looks likely to run here.
January 16, 2022 at 13:01 #1578352I took the 11-2 on offer for him after that. That was a good performance
January 16, 2022 at 14:42 #1578371Whatever happens mike/FF, theres not a chance that was a performance of a horse who will be pacemaking for anyone lol, good luck with jonbon
I was going to green out on DD as i said above but im going to take the view he comes here until mullins sais otherwise.
Nice race too look forward to anyway
January 16, 2022 at 14:47 #1578376The bookies are pushing out Sir Gerhard for the Supreme and its going the other way for the Ballymore.
January 16, 2022 at 15:47 #1578384Why?
Sir G is 5/4 (i think) for the DRF grade 1, what happens if he goes there and gives a DD performance vs what will be probably better horses?
WPM won’t send both to the same race, Hendo might well.
That still has to happen by the way and it might not. Just think if SIR G shows his hurdling technique in a better race, he’ll look the more straightforward Supreme type.
DD reminded me more of Yorkhill almost there, bit clumsy.

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!January 16, 2022 at 15:56 #1578386Clumsy? The second last….a tad, was going a proper gallop there and the ones behind were clumsy as couldn’t go the pace.
A big striding horse who will be better for a fence next season.
Without stating the obvious, good horse this. Have him for both races at decent odds. Whatever happens shaping up to be a cracker the Supreme.
January 16, 2022 at 16:43 #1578392Clumsy maybe the wrong word, and of course it’s his 2nd run not being a ptp’r it’s expected but didn’t think he was quite as fluent as say a SIR G which is part and parcel of a WPM 2m Supreme horse. At the end of the day he’s a proper horse, can’t wait to see what happened between the 4 of them whatever way they go.
Do think there’s been a market overreaction today though, before the race he was priced as if heavily weighted to the Ballymore- he was 1/2 to win today, so a fair chance of doing so, and they’ve cut him massively. Of course he was mega impressive but, a good win was expected by the market.
Over to Sir G.

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!January 16, 2022 at 17:21 #1578397I mean i dont know if you can call it an overreaction, hes ran mid 140s there without being asked anything, anything atall, what else can they do with him, given how the reacted to nickys…
January 16, 2022 at 17:28 #1578399I agree, personally (and from a betting perspective) I have the Mullins pair in front of the Henderson’s pair. All four are lovely horses.
Constitution Hill – has been visually impressive but I keep asking myself – What has he beat? A lovely dude of a horse, asleep in the parade ring, on the way down to the start and during the race then quickens up impressively when asked. He does things so professionally for a horse with only two races under rules.
Jonbon – Douvan’s brother with a mouth-watering price tag to boot (not his fault), visually has impressed despite crawling in both starts over hurdles over the first part of his races only then to fly home, what could he be?
Sir Gerhard – Has mixed it at the top level already last season (not to be underestimated that stat) and did things that needed to be done first time out over hurdles and only comes on for that run.
Dysart Dynamo – Looks headstrong (bit like UDS) and tanks along in his races and runs through the line at pace giving the impression there is loads left, good horse this.
Its a tough one to solve especially if they all turn up here (doubt they all will) but an intriguing race nevertheless but I think Mullins will have the winner but happy to eat my words when all said and done…..

The point being, a win was expected today, he was 14s before, had they forgot that today’s race was over 2m or something? Seems weird to me.

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!January 16, 2022 at 20:02 #1578424Yeah well in context i find it weird hes shortened for the ballymore, doesnt make sense to me, i dont have an issue with him going to a similar price to jonbon for this (albeit id still have everthing slightly bigger but it is what it is)
I know what your saying about an expected win,i dont really have an opinion on it, just the figure they run to is all i was really getting at, aside from the fact i backed him, forgetting all that, he looked to me the best visually so far, but back to what you said, sir G still has the best race out of them all so far to run in, should something else like el fab or whatevers lurking turn him over, plenty of time for a shake up, as much as i have my opinion, nothings off the table yet about who goes where
Atleast its interesting at this point!
January 16, 2022 at 21:35 #1578430Something tells me that not all four of them will go for the Supreme.
Looking at Sir Gerhard’s Festival Bumper form: nine of the first eleven home have won at aleast a race afterwards. It is rock solid form, but I have the impression that he might be better suited by an extra furlong or two.
You can never tell how much Willie can improve him, but he gave him plenty of time with this rater late hurdling introduction. Mostly likely he is a proper spring horse. But as already mentioned here, we’ll find out after the DRF.
I’m still quite adamant that not all four of them will go to post for the Supreme.

January 17, 2022 at 11:11 #15784631/1000 all 4 wont go ruby
And
1/100000 that atleast two of them are nowhere near as good as people think
Theres not 4 superstars, thats for certain
January 17, 2022 at 11:34 #1578464Ham, I think all of them will be better chasers than hurdlers. And why would at least three of them be chasing no more 20k? You could be right that at least of two of them could be overrated. Probably it’s also the lack of proper opposition from other stables that makes all four of them look that far above.
Jonbon needs a proper gallop, CH has to run on more quicker ground and also in bigger fields, Sir Gerhard has to face better opposition than he faced in his maiden hurdle, but he is the one with the most improvement to expect.
I also don’t know how to define a superstar in order to make everyone happy. Envoy Allen was unbeatable in bumpers and hurdles, but the truth was revealed over fences. He is no superstar in my opinion.
January 17, 2022 at 16:27 #1578501I’d go Ballymore with DD. Not as slick over his hurdles as the other Supreme favs and should have the stamina
