Good to soft will be fine. Nothing like Haydock glue will do
January 22, 2022 at 16:26 #1579355He’s beat the 121 rated Nells Son 8 lengths. Meh. Better start now
January 24, 2022 at 06:16 #1579628Henderson post race assessment…
“Jonbon was good. It was a fantastic run – it is a good horse who can quicken twice and that is what he did.
He quickened from three out to two out, and then he quickened after the last. That was all he needed. That was was just what he needed and Aidan said he was very happy with him.
They are both (Shiskin,Jonbon) great this morning and we couldn’t be happier with them. I felt, from Jonbon’s point of view, it was a great run at Haydock on ground that did not look to be ideal.”
January 24, 2022 at 10:26 #1579634Temperament is a big negative for Jonbon and the only Haydock trial winner going on to complete the double that i can recall is Cinders And Ashes, which was probably the worst Supreme in modern history. Recent winners like Mister Fisher and Edwarstone were well beaten at Cheltenham
I think it’s the year that Michael Buckley finally wins the Supreme
January 24, 2022 at 10:48 #1579637“Temperament is a big negative for Jonbon”.
Thing is at Haydock it was reported he was cool as a cucumber in the prelims and got warm under the saddle when the cloth was put on and the jockey got on, which can happen to other horses as well. We will see how ‘warm’ he gets at Cheltenham.
January 24, 2022 at 11:07 #1579642His temperament would be off putting for me too… Hendo said at the start of the season “oh he didn’t look great when we got him as he’s a worrier and he’d been through a lot, he ran in his P2P and went to the sales”. Hmm if a horse is losing weight and its mind from gently hacking up in a P2P by 15 lengths then getting on a boat and walking a few laps round a sales ring that doesn’t bode well.
Still, no better trainer to tune in to how the horse feels and mind him carefully till the big day, and he’s got plenty of time between his last race and Cheltenham, and he has stood up to the mental rigours of training so far I suppose. I wonder if his hurdling technique will hold up under the pressure of a Supreme.
January 24, 2022 at 12:14 #1579649It’s a shame but I must admit I think his temperament could be his downfall too. Although the run Saturday wasn’t bad, it didn’t signify progression from his last 2 runs and I think it was down to temperament too. You can only imagine it will be worse at Cheltenham. Could be a horse for next year.
It’s a real shame as his hurdling is absolutely electric. He hurdles like a champion hurdler. But needs to mature and this could come too soon for him
January 24, 2022 at 14:34 #1579669“I wonder if his hurdling technique will hold up under the pressure of a Supreme.”
Yes it will imo. The faster they go, his slick jumping will be to his advantage. On the other hand how slick will Dysart Dynamo jump in a Championship race?
January 24, 2022 at 16:47 #1579691Personally don’t think any of the protagonists have anything working against them and it’s fairly possible that the firmer everyone’s clutching their ante-post vouchers the more they’re looking to get one another beat
I don’t think there was anything wrong with Jonbon’s run at Haydock. His pre-race disposition wouldn’t put me off as Henderson is the master of managing to get a horse to mature. The fact he won that race at Haydock which has a ‘poor record’ fpr Cheltenham well, what else has gone there to try and hold that argument up? Mister Fisher?
Dysart Dynamo I’d also have no qualms about either. His jumping looked almost entirely slick to my eye in the Moscow Flyer.
I’d say the market probably has it just about right currently, although I’d struggle to fully nail my colours to the mast on one. I reckon it’ll be a hell of a race though, with none or the aforementioned bombing because of the appropriated reasoning.
January 24, 2022 at 18:25 #1579725Taken a bit of 33’s Jonbon to win this and next year’s Champion Hurdle. Think the owner could well stick to hurdles and Nicky won’t argue as he has next year’s Arkle winner with Constitution Hill

January 27, 2022 at 22:37 #158011933s for that? So your getting about 6/1 for the CH next season as a novice who hasnt ran in a grade 1? Id be wanting 33/1 AFTER he won a supreme lol
That bet should currently be atleast 125/1
Horrendous price, absolutely horrendous, cant recall a worse bet than that this far out
January 27, 2022 at 23:22 #1580124Its irreverent the price if he doesn’t win the Supreme
If he does win the supreme than do you think the current top price for next year Champion Hurdle 12’s will still be there.
Therefore I’d be sat on 33’s with the angle to lay and he’d possible go Arkle and I’m still quids in
Not bad for a 4/1 shotBlackbeard to conquer the World
January 28, 2022 at 10:16 #1580147Yes but your basing the price off “if” he does win this, i mean appreciate it (who put up a 160 display in this last season) is 8/1… and the race is 6 weeks away, i mean if you requested the price for him to win next years CH right now without this being in the equation and the price wasnt atleast 33/1 on its own its a farce
But i had a look anyway and you can double him on unibet right now for this @7/2 and @12/1 for next years CH giving you 57/1
Even at 57/1 its ridiculous lol
January 28, 2022 at 10:42 #1580150I understand your point.
A lot of people wouldn’t bet a week in advance let a lone over a year
I’m on Shishkin double Arkle and CC at 33’s some would say that’s no value at the time yet will be running around town hitting every bookies trying to get £50 on in each at 4/6 on the dayDo Unibet let you place that double.??
Racebets use to let, I soon got restricted to nothing with them
Of course the bet depends on him winning this. I prefer Constitution Hill personally but there is value in it as far as I’m concerned. Yes “if” he wins first and then has to make it safe and sound all year over and then has to actually run in next years race unless you lay off. There is a big hole in the Champion Hurdle under Honeysuckle. Jonbon could be clear 2nd favourite after the Supreme or he could be completely out of the picture.
Henderson or the owners of Jonbon and Constitution Hill may well decide on a different route rather than the Arkle for one of them. Jonbon’s owner has a decent record in the CH and IMO very often wrong Jonbon would be the one if any to maybe go for it. He looks to have plenty of potential and looks slick enough over one.Blackbeard to conquer the World
January 28, 2022 at 13:59 #1580173Bookies won’t allow the bet unless it’s a special – It’s a related contingency bet.
January 28, 2022 at 14:48 #1580182I’ve just tried with unibet
it allows both selections in the betslip as a double but the following comes up when trying to place itTechnical Issue
