Tony Keenan Attheraces backed DD for this straight after Sunday’s race. Barry Geraghty says he’s a Supreme horse, would worry about him getting home well enough in the Ballymore.
January 22, 2022 at 11:06 #1579205We,ll know a bit more about Jonbon today , Might I is a good horse and unlike last time he,s not giving weight away , I’ve had a tickle at him today , I don’t see a bridle and push out today
January 22, 2022 at 13:29 #1579251That answers the question if Jonbon can win a properly run race.
January 22, 2022 at 13:32 #1579252It also answers he wont be winning a supreme off that, DD and CH will be too good, should confirm CH comes here though
January 22, 2022 at 13:35 #1579253That wasn’t impressive at all
Cant see him winning this
January 22, 2022 at 13:38 #1579254After seeing that, it reinforces my confidence in Constitution Hill.
January 22, 2022 at 13:46 #1579259Huge overreaction on Jonbon for me. I watched him going down to the start and my immediate thought was that, given the way he moved he would’ve hated conditions. It wasn’t visually as flashy as the CH and DD recent runs although I’d be in no hurry to rule him out. That’s unless there’s a March deluge in the Cotswolds.
January 22, 2022 at 13:50 #1579261He’d be better on better ground which Henderson says all along, so i’m not overly concerned. He won giving weight on heavy ground.
As Henderson said post race he quickened twice on that ground which bodes well.January 22, 2022 at 13:53 #1579263Haydock is ‘Soft’, not ‘Heavy’.
BUY THE SUN
January 22, 2022 at 13:55 #1579264Heavy in places.
He’ll want better ground in March.
January 22, 2022 at 13:56 #1579266On the Chase course. Hurdles course is ‘Soft’.
BUY THE SUN
January 22, 2022 at 13:57 #1579267Ittl be soft for the supreme more than likely…. Or on the softer side anyway…
And he can quicken twice if he likes, but he hasnt improved on 145 and he definitely is suited more to a crawl and sprint than a strong pace, which he aint getting, so he needs to find atleast 7lbs to have a chance assuming either dd/sg/ch cant run to high 150s like appreciate it, which is entirely possible, he may need another stone, i wouldnt be taking a short price that he can find another stone off that run
If your on at big prices then no harm done
But hes no chance. Should have been pushed out way past 4/1 after that
January 22, 2022 at 14:00 #1579268Tend to agree ham about his price; feel sure he’ll eventually drift after that.
On the face of it wasn’t too bad, did find quite a bit for pressure – but wasn’t impressive…
And imo more problematic than Jonbon’s race performance was pre-race.
If sweating up so badly without much of a crowd, may lose the race before the start at Cheltenham.Value Is EverythingJanuary 22, 2022 at 14:02 #1579270He wont need to find a stone i dont think ham as he was giving weight today.
January 22, 2022 at 14:10 #1579271“If sweating up so badly without much of a crowd, may lose the race before the start at Cheltenham.”
That is my main concern as well, Ginger. Cheltenham is no place for a buzzy horse and the Supreme, where the atmosphere will naturally be electric, is about the worst race of all for such a type.
I thought his performance was pretty good today but I have a horrible feeling he is going get himself beat at Cheltenham.
January 22, 2022 at 14:11 #1579273Anyone concerned about todays ground for Jonbon will have a maximum of half a click better at Cheltenham. Zero chance its better than Good to Soft.
BUY THE SUN
January 22, 2022 at 14:14 #1579275Fast pace stiff track level weights bit better ground hopefully – still a player. As you say the pre race behaviour will be key.
