I agree with the sentiments FF91. I’ve rebacked Ballyadam 14-1 ew for this as a consequence, already on Appreciate It 16s. Better ground will make it interesting I think. And it has already been in the back of my mind if there is one in the race that will do AI for speed over 2 miles.
February 16, 2021 at 14:08 #1523278Quite a few scratched from this today including Zanahyir, My Drogo, Boothill and Flinteur Sacre.
February 17, 2021 at 07:46 #1523371HDB hasn’t ruled this out for Bob Olinger and he’s 12/1 NRNB. For me that’s a ludicrous NRNB price and well worth taking to cover Ballymore positions IMO, especially now 4 between him and AI were scratched yesterday
February 17, 2021 at 09:44 #1523378This is one of the hotpots I’ll be trying to get beat this year. I think ballyadam is most likely to beat it. Appreciate it got the run of the race last time and ballyadam didn’t. Ignore ballyadam at Christmas as Gordon wasn’t firing. Plus better ground will suit ballyadam so that’s more than enough for me to be on him
February 19, 2021 at 13:16 #1523589I really like Ballyadam for this. Appreciate it done nothing wrong over hurdles this might sound stupid but he reminds me more of a horse that gallops. He can hit the odd flat spot. Ballyadam travelled well last time made a hash of the last.can see him held up travelling into the race strongly and hopefully can use his flat speed up the hill. Wouldnt mind a bit of good ground also.
February 19, 2021 at 13:29 #1523593Ballyadam was already well beaten when he made a hash of the last.
It is a game of opinions but sometimes I think we can overthink things. There is a natural tendency to take on a short priced favourite but sometimes a winner is staring you in the face.
I take the point that Elliot’s horses were not right at Christmas but I honestly see no reason why Ballyadam should turn the form around.
Appreciate It has already shown he can act on the track, albeit in the Bumper. As the Supreme is the first race of the meeting, I can see the bookies wanting to take him on. I expect him to be a better price on the day and a great bet to get the meeting off to a flyer!
February 24, 2021 at 23:14 #1525250I’ve just done a little more study on this race and watched the chanelle farmer back a few times. I know I flagged up Ballyadam on a earlier post but watching the race back when the pace increased his jumping was not brilliant. He nosedived at one in the back and when he needed a good jump at the last he couldnt produce it. Watching the race back he got to appreciate its girth and as soon as he got close appreciate it felt it and kicked on again. Appreciate it most likely winner and will take a good one to beat it I feel they could be one
That brings me to METIER I cant believe this fella has not been mentioned. The negatives yes hes flat bred and I know terrible record in the race. Harry wanted another run in before the supreme too. But I’ve watched that tolworth back a few times and wow maybe this lad is just a bit special. His jumping was good and quick when the pace quickened he jumped even better. If you look at 2 out slight mistake he comes off the bridle sean gives him a slap straight back on the bridle and powers up the hill wins by 12 lengths hard held! If you get chance watch the race back I was really impressed. You are getting 7/1 who has won a grade 1 by 12 lengths if willie or nikki ttained this fella what price would he be?
February 25, 2021 at 00:19 #1525260If Ballyadam jumped the last properly theres 2 lengths between him and AI at the line i reckon. Thats not a lot though its advantage AI at the moment having won.
February 25, 2021 at 11:41 #1525282I’ve taken the 33/1 about Atholl Street ahead of his run in the Dovecote at the weekend, as he could shorten up appreciably if he wins and wins well.
Has not really come off the bridle in two starts, can’t say he’s beaten much, but what he has done, has been easy on the eye. Yes he’s in the ‘could be anything’ category at this stage, but should know more after Saturday.
Nicholls knows how to win this race and this is his only entry….
Worth a dabble…February 26, 2021 at 22:59 #1525525Had a NRNB on Micro Manage @ 50’s
Backed him for the Irish St.Leger after quite an eye catching run before that. Was really well backed for that G1 but a bit disappointing in really. Looking back on it, it was a pretty hot race when you think about it. Has an entry on Sunday.
February 27, 2021 at 19:48 #1525706Added Micro Manage NRNB EW @ 66/1 BOG
March 8, 2021 at 18:10 #1528127Dreal Deal – who I thought had a really good chance – out of this. Bum.
BlueSky @pghenn.bsky.social
So don't run, just like the others always do
March 10, 2021 at 12:43 #1528904March 14, 2021 at 10:52 #1529442March 14, 2021 at 11:01 #1529448Only 8 runners in the Supreme. I can only assume the social runners are absent. And nothing from Henderson or Nicholls.
March 14, 2021 at 11:40 #1529455Only 8 runners. This race and the Albert Barlett look rather weak compared with last year. Although Appreceate It might need to step up it is hard to see him not winning this. I backed For Pleasure two months ago at 50/1 EW. He will start here, but he wasn’t good enough in the Betfair Hurdle, but in a field of only 8 runners he might be placed.
For Pleasure 50/1 EW
March 15, 2021 at 22:07 #1529724Appreciate it is very short now, too short?
