Dont they always say that the Supreme goes at such a speed that ypou have to be a Stayer to get up the hill at the end? He was definitely pencilled in for this when they had the stable tour at the beginning of the season
January 4, 2019 at 12:30 #1391278I’ve taken a chance on Rathhill at 20s today as I expect him to win the Tolworth tomorrow and he’ll obviously shorten up if he does.
January 4, 2019 at 13:26 #1391294On a line through Champagne Court Rathhill isn’t better than Angels Breath.
Hope this is the case come March.
January 4, 2019 at 13:34 #1391296Right now I don’t mind that result. Well providing City win the league as I have them in a double with Angels Breath! I felt I’d missed the price on AB after Annamix got beat so I wanted to throw it in with something to boost the price. City to win the league were 15/8 prior to last night so I did them. Made sense to me!
January 5, 2019 at 17:46 #1391524Still plenty of time for a real star to turn up between now and March, but I’m starting to think that Thomas Darby could run a big race in this. Beat today’s winner fair and square over course and distance in October. Not sure Ascot or Kempton suited him, but he ran creditably. He’s best priced 33/1, which I find very surprising.

January 7, 2019 at 03:08 #1391650Thomas Darby seems to me as one of those early season novices that is just ahead of the early season horses but gets found out in the top class races (Spring Festivals). Always a couple every year and I suspect he’d be one.
January 7, 2019 at 09:28 #1391657Well it won’t be Rathhill winning will it!
January 7, 2019 at 13:54 #1391688Angels Breath is the only one i’ve seen to date that shouts star to me. How he travelled and quickened in that G2 on debut was very taking. Only concern i have is if they don’t run him again, but surely they will.
January 7, 2019 at 14:49 #1391698I’d love the performance of Angels Breath, my main concern was that I didn’t think he looked that scopey. Obviously you can’t always tell much from appearance and he clearly has an engine. I do think he is worthy fav, but mainly because nothing else has looked like a star in the making yet – if that makes sense.
January 7, 2019 at 16:46 #1391714I get what you’re saying but i’d rather have a neat horse for hurdles than a big scopey beast. Buveur D’air is built similar IIRC (comparison in size not talent, before i get hounded).
January 7, 2019 at 17:06 #1391723Agree. Interesting reading Pricewise backed Al Dancer but assumes he will be diverted so he doesn’t clash with Angels Breath.
January 7, 2019 at 17:32 #1391725Would make sense as the owners would like them split probably and Nicky won’t want to run both AB & Champ in the Ballymore. Depends what AD does in the Betfair also, i would think.
January 7, 2019 at 23:26 #1391754Anyone got a solid line on quick grabim, keep hearing hes not in the yard and is out for the season, hard to know what to believe…
January 8, 2019 at 07:10 #1391775No idea but I have him at 50/1 so keen to hear news is probably an understatement!
January 8, 2019 at 09:24 #1391787I know he hasn’t been in the yard since the entries were made for the G1 2m Novice at Leopardstown, as i asked the racing manager then. Wasn’t confirmed he’s out for season though.

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!January 8, 2019 at 10:02 #1391791He’s injured but he hasn’t been ruled out for the season yet.
January 8, 2019 at 20:04 #1391840I’m slightly against Angels Breath on breeding and that win at Ascot was questionable due to the lack of hurdles and the very stiff headwind. He’s bred for 2 1/2. The form looked decent but they stood for several seconds after the start and didn’t jump a flight for several furlongs.
Champagne Platinum was very good at Newbury but it’s difficult to predict what McManus will do with all his novices.
