Turnell looking to book McCoy for Michael Flips By racingpost.com staff2.12PM 28 FEB 2009
ANDREW TURNELL hopes to engage Tony McCoy for the mount on Micheal Flips in the Williamhill.com Supreme Novices Hurdle, but accepts he will be competing against Nicky Henderson for the services of the champion jockey.McCoy successfully teamed up with the four-year-old in a novice hurdle at Kempton on Boxing Day, and Micheal Flips is 14-1 with the sponsor for the festival opener.
Turnell said: "AP will ride if he is available. If that isnot possible I assume Mark Grant will take the ride, as he knows him well."
PRINTED IN TODAYS RACING POST. JUST FOR SOME PEOPLE WHO DOUBTED ME THAT I KNEW HE WAS MAYBE GOING TO RIDE THE HORSE.
March 1, 2009 at 00:15 #212809Good Luck K J with Michael Flips ive had a small investment eacw way.
March 1, 2009 at 08:48 #212851Never doubted you for a moment KJ it’s always been down to whether JP McManus had a runner or not. AP is paid a retainer by the man.
I am trying to get it confirmed but I was told yesterday that Nicky Henderson is in favour of Ainama missing Cheltenham and going to Aintree. At the end of the day I suppose it will be down to what Frank Berry and JP agree to
But there is no smoke without fire as they say so I’ve had a bit on EW as well and with Hurricane Fly gone you could have a great bet at 25/1. GL
March 1, 2009 at 15:33 #212869Out of respect for your earlier selections on the forum I also had a small interest at 25’s KJ.

Michael F form was given a boost when Fairyland won on Friday and i shall be keeping an eye on Hot Diamond this afternoon at Huntingdon
He was third in M Flips race at Kempton.March 2, 2009 at 05:11 #213003Just to elaborate on Cousin Vinny I believe he is heading this market on the basis of his bumper achievements rather than what he has achieved over hurdles. He made a satisfactory debut but that was in a very slowly run race and the form cannot be taken at face value. Next time he easily broke his maiden against modest opposition but even then he had to be ridden quite vigorously to reach top gear. Although conditions were put down as an excuse there was nothing at all impressive about his follow up victory and despite the plaudits it is dubious what he actually looked like achieving last time. Whatever the actual merit of Pandorama he has looked a dour galloper and as such liable to be outpaced over a shorter trip. The other two runners had already been exposed at a decent level and one would probably have preferred a longer trip and the other shorter. Cousin Vinny may step up on the day but at around 3/1 I think there are still plenty of question marks particularly if trainers see this as a significantly better opportunity with Hurricane Fly out of the way.
I’ve just been watching Cousin Vinny’s races again and I have to agree. For me the biggest doubt is how he jumps the last in all 3 of his hurdles races: when the pressure is on he fluffs it. To me he jumps like a chaser, too big and can’t get organised at speed. I have him backed at 10-1 since last year but have laid a good bit off.
I’ve backed Go Native at 16-1: he’s a much better jumper than CV.March 2, 2009 at 06:45 #213010AnonymousInactive- Total Posts 158

March 3, 2009 at 05:51 #213190My idea off the winner here is Couson vinny who i really think could be a cheltenham horse he won the champion bumper last year and has had a troubled prep this year falling last time out
I really feel the track will bring the best out off the horse and should beat these novices as he likes for me he will be rode off the pace and brought swinging off the bridle two out and will win very easily…IMO he either wins very easily or is well below par but i really believe this horse has the class and will beat these lot on his way to much better things at the festival in years to come eg best mate got stuffed in this wen was 2nd till youwillneverwalkalone and we know what that horse achived after that i think this horse has loads off potential and we havent seen the best off him yet and ill take my chances for this fella to start my festival off with a bang

2nd to Saulsalito Bay.
March 3, 2009 at 14:06 #213207He didn’t "get stuffed" either……he looked all over the winner until Culloty inexplicably brought him stands side.
March 4, 2009 at 16:05 #213390I would find it hard to believe that Cousin Vinnys finish in a competition paced 2 mile bumper would have more speed than for example, Red Moloney’s very good finishes over 10-13furlongs on the flat, often in slow paced events. If he has the speed to win this I will be genuinely shocked.
??? the bumper is a flat race ? am i missing something here ? not enough speed ??

Totaly Agree my friend so many peeps are looking to knock him ,but if is jumping holds up he will win by the same margin as Back To Front !

You sure are! If he ran on the flat over 10 to 13 furlongs he would be lucky to get within half a furlong of the likes of Red Monlony or any other decent middle distance flat horse. Those horses do well in 2m hurdles beacause they get a breater every time they jump a hurdle.
You can bet your life the only reason CV runs here is because HF is out. I wouldn’t have 10p on him. I will be shocked if he’s in the first 2 in what is sure to be a fast run race.
March 4, 2009 at 19:47 #213439Ive just bin doing sun study off this race and watching sum videos and i will be backing this horse as well as Couson Vinny who ive got in many antepost bets from 6/1 to 3/1 so thats the horse i want to win the race!
But i fancy a horse called Go native who travels super smooth in his races and in all his hurdle races so far has bin swinging off the bridle two from home.Wen he raced against Hurricane fly both horses was tanking off the bride coming to the last Go native made a mistake and HF showed class speed away from the last and beat Go native by 10l….If he hadnt made that mistake he wouldnt off won but i really think maybe 5l between the pair?.
Is that good enough form to win a Supreme novices?…This fella reminds me a bit off a mini Harchibald might not find much off the bridle!..but i feel this could be going ever so well coming to the last maybe back/lay on betfair..ill def be putting it in a couple off 2£ antepost lucky 15s and prob 30£ each way on the day just becuase if it wins and spotted it would feel gutted if i hadnt backed it
Last thing i hope carberry gets the ride on him instead off madden he has got stuffed twich on him over hurdles where as carberry had won both starts including a grade two.Have a look at his Irish form and let us know what you think i think this horse could have a major chance IMO
