The eyecatcher of the race was Somersby, in my opinion.
Yes, he travelled very well, got outpaced and then stayed on strongly. Would have benefitted from a stronger pace.

Can’t wait to see him jump a fence. A wonderful looking animal.
March 11, 2009 at 01:44 #215102Cousin Vinny really hampered Medermit at the last fence; not sure if he’d’ve won without that happening or if the winner would have pulled out a bit more..Cousin Vinny looked awful in the paddock [and I’m pretty useless at spotting that sort of thing so he must have looked bad]; so much for Mick Fitz saying on the radio that all was well with the horse…Somersby looked superb; Hen really does buy beautiful horses.
March 11, 2009 at 02:58 #215134Go Native will be swinging on the bit two out but won’t get up the hill. Place possibilities at best. Paul will ride him if he’s fit and I’m sure he’ll get a nice view of Cousin Vinny’s backside storming up the hill to win!
Oops!

Well done to Noel Meade and Paul Carberry. Two men who get a lot of unecessary and ridiculous criticism at times.
What price Hurricane Fly for the Champion next year?? Destroyed this fellow at Leopardstown. Hope he’s back for Punchestown.
