1.5/3 Rory – but well done so far :)

    who rode no 2?

    no 3 is incorrect, sorry.

edit: *blushes* you are quite correct Rory, it was Santa Anita, apologies to you and the late great gentleman himself for getting that wrong.
I honestly thought it was Lone Star Park :x :)

Jimmy Fortune rode no. 2 as I’m sure you knew.

Anywho……to get back on topic, thanks Corm! If the chat room’s working, and I’m back from a birthday trip to visit my daughter in Oxford that day, I’ll be there :-)

What chaser whose name began with the letter ‘R’ fell in a race in the 1960’s when priced at 100/6 on?
Name any jockey whose horse has fallen in a chase, has been remounted and gone on to win?

I’m not following the thread’s current train of thought, but I don’t care.

    My favourite trivia question:

Where did Lanfranco Dettori ride his first European Classic race?

Nearly there Gerald! I believe it was the rearranged St Leger won by Michelozzo at Ayr.

I was very stubborn to Gerald – he was right, but he wasn’t.

That is correct – Dettori rode in the 1989 St Leger when a waterlogged Doncaster was postponed and transferred to Ayr a week later.

Which of these didn’t or haven’t trained a winner for Sheikh Mohammed?

Ajdal for the first one; would guess John Francome for the second.

    Right and Wrong

John Francome trained a winner for Sheikh Mohammed, recorded in the 1986 form book

Nigel Tinkler hasn’t trained a winer for Sheikh Mohammed, though he did train Sugarfoot who by the way has he sired any winners anyone?

That is correct – Dettori rode in the 1989 St Leger when a waterlogged Doncaster was postponed and transferred to Ayr a week later.

Doncaster wasn’t waterlogged though; the track was deemed unsafe to race on after some underground drains collapsed.
