The Flat (see “Selections For The Flat Season” thread)

That’s the first month of my summer campaign over, the first time this century I’ve done more than have the occasional glance at summer racing.
If I wasn’t for the bet365 tipping competition I probably wouldn’t have had more than a couple of bets in my favourite flat races, Ascot Gold Cup, Queens Vase, Irish Derby etc, but I’ve enjoyed the challenge and, although I am very unfamiliar with a lot of the jockeys and most of the flat horses, several jumpers running on the flat have kept my head above water.
After a very shaky start I’ve surprised myself and ended up showing a healthy profit on only a £1 a point stakes on the month.
It’s my staking plan that let my down most or the profit would be higher, the £500 or so invested in bets of £100 or over have only produced one winner from four selections and a return of only £350.

National Hunt (see “Summer Jumpers” thread)

Oddly enough I’ve found I harder to find summer jumpers to back and had far few bets than I’d expected which goes some way to explain the smaller profit over the jumps where I can’t use inexperience as an excuse

I did hit the combined + £1000 mark temporarily a week or so ago, Profound Beauty rather spoilt that party but I’m keeping faith that the next time I get past that milestone I’ll stay there!

Month One Flat Campaign Profit £636.91
Month One NH Campaign Profit £110.00
Month One Overall Summer Profit £746.91

    MONTHLY UPDATE
Once again some shaky moments during July, my jumping thread went into the red a couple of times but The Galway steadied the ship and both threads showing a profit on the month although two of my” best three bets” did get beat, of these Natural High is worth backing again but over more that 12 furlongs and poor old Age Of Aquarius has to be forgiven, I’m just glad it wasn’t as bad as it first look and . Maybe he’ll sire a Cheltenham Gold Cup winner one day?

Flat Campaign Profit after month two £1143.63
NH Campaign Profit after month two £ 505.96
Total Overall Summer Profit £1649 .59
