ooops

Will keep an eye on your threads from now on. Cheers
The winter jumps season is my main interest and major betting medium, the summer jumps and the flat are a bit of fun that I haven’t bothered with for some years, seems to be going OK though …so far
I’ve surprised myself with my flat profit but I did have a good jumper taking on the flat boys and showing them how to do it to thank for that
June 19, 2010 at 18:56 #302083Jessica Harrington’s
SPANISH AURIGA
has by far the best form in the 2.35 at Gowran Park tomorrow, his run behind Grade 1 hurdler Jumbo Rio with the classy Arabella Boy back in 4th makes him look the bet of the week especially if anything like the forecast odds are available
2-1 (RP) and 9-4 (ATR) both prices I find too generous to believe. At anything like that price he’d be terrific valueJune 19, 2010 at 20:31 #302099Yes, looks like a winner, a bit of 8/5 about. Just the size of field puts me off for them odds. Although I think Spanish should win, Riverstown is definatly open to improvement and may be a good EW at 12s. Soon see.

Roll on Winter!I can’t find better than 11/10 about SPANISH AURIGA, too short for a big single with, as you point out, such a big field. I’m not a big fan of Riverstown’s jockey so he’s not for me.
I’d been looking closely at
OILILY
and
GRAN TORINO
both look safe for a place at least so I’ll be going for 3 x £3 ew doubles and a £6 ew treble, £30 staked

Nor did I, but "Spanish" was never worth a bet at that price, your danger ran a decent race at a fair price, profit on an EW
My ew trixie netted the grand profit of £2.15, still a bet to nothing.Summer Jumps running Profit £166.84
June 21, 2010 at 19:09 #302507Ceann An Iarainn was 50-1 this morning, I thought of a bet but his form is in letters rather than numbers, but he’s been backed down to 12-1 and as the jockey booking is an eyecatcher, Nina Carberry is on board, I’ve gone for £1.48 ew as I want to watch the race anyway.
June 24, 2010 at 15:28 #302946CLIFTON DEBUT looks very interesting in The Summer National. Sam Twiston-Davies booked, I didn’t expect that but he’s good value for his 5lb claim.
June 27, 2010 at 11:35 #303346First jump bet for a while, £3 ew CLIFTON DEBUT @ 25-1
I have him in doubles and a treble with BENBAUN and CAPE BLANCO see my Flat Racing thread in lays and plays.
Depending on how the first selection works out I may (or may not) up the stakes later.Current Summer NH Profit £166
Added to the £513 profit on the flat I’m more than happy with my first four weeks of Summer betting for several years even though I did briefly get past the combined £1000 which is OK for stakes of £1 a point.June 27, 2010 at 13:56 #303373Clifton Debut couldn’t jump a shadow, jockey lost his irons at the first, I knew I’d lost my cash by the second!
Profit down to £160
June 29, 2010 at 13:36 #303788The unbeaten Irish ex-pointer
TEAR DROPS
looks the one to be on tomorrow at Perth.
The form of her win at Milltown has worked out really well with the next three home all winning since and I see nothing to stop her from retaining her 100% record tomorrow although her fitness and ability to act on a firmer surface must be taken on trust.
Her win was on yielding ground and the forecast for Perth tomorrow is good to firm but we’ve had a fair amount of rain up here in the last couple of days although we are a quite a bit north of Perth£25 ew placed
June 30, 2010 at 18:12 #303912Tear Drops pulled far too hard early on, that’s the second one of mine that’s done that in two days

First Months NH profit drops to £110
I normally find it hard enough to find one horse to nap in the 365 flat competition, tomorrow I’ve found four, all appearing to have very solid chances, plus a couple of decent looking NH bets at Perth.
The jumpers are
CHICAGO GREY
3.50 Perth. Class act with high class hurdle form last season, only beaten a head by Mourad conceding Mullins horse 10lbs he would appear only to need a clear round to win
ESPORAO
5.20 Perth Good bumper form in Ireland, ignore last run when stumbling on the flat, repetition of previous run when going down by ½ a length to The Grey Express would be enough to see him win this. The winner went on to run up to the unbeaten filly, Tus Nua who looks every inch a Galway Festival banker
The flat runners (below) look safer bets than the jumpers so I’ll start off with an ew Heinz….
ABBONDANZA 6.10 Redcar
GLORIFIED 6.30 Leopardstown
LORD SHANAKILL 7.35 Newbury
CAESER’S SONG 9.05 Leopardstown.(See “Selections For Flat Season” thread for form lines and stakes)
July 2, 2010 at 14:29 #304188Over to Wexford for today’s only NH bet. I’ve spent the best part of a couple of hours trying to split the only two I fancy in the 6.35 which are….
KING ROCCO (16-1)
who wasn’t given much of a ride last time out in a decent Hunter chase and was hampered when just starting to make up some ground and far from out of contention. He ran on well to finish 6th and tonight’s odds look generous
MON CABELLO (5-2)
Five of the seven that finished behind Mon Caballo on his debut have won since and Paul Carberry rides tonight, he was sold for £50,000 after that win but has had a long lay off since. That said, the yard is red hot right now but he looks poor value although worth a saver/cover bet
I’ve gone for the value and had £9 EW King Rocco and £6 EW Mon Cabello at the odds quoted……but if one was wihdrawn I’d be temped to invest again

Check Irish Stamp’s "Irish’s Pointers" thread for a more in depth discussion on their relative merits
July 2, 2010 at 17:49 #304223Good run by King Rocco although it’s always disappointing when your 16-1 shot beats all the favs yet still gets pipped for the win
£7.80 profit on the bet, my "saver" obviously needed the run
Summer NH seasons Profit £117.80
July 2, 2010 at 20:16 #304232Good stuff CS – didn’t back King Rocco in the end but hope my second opinion came in handy, 16/1 was a cracking price for him just a shame he couldn’t scoop the win.

Yes Martin, very helpful, thank you.
oFor me, one of the best things about this forum is that there are members who appreciate pointers and hunters, my love of that side of our sport goes back to the great Freddie who started his career around the same time I started to have a bet, it was him and Arkle, (of course), that led me down the NH route rather than towards the flat.
I’ve waited nearly 50 years for another hunter as good as Freddie to show up, I feel this season we will finally see his equal. - AuthorPosts
