I tried to find a thread on this but couldn’t so apologies if there is one but it’s hiding
.Michael Stoute has supplemented Regal Flush at a cost of £40,000 following his win at Haydock last Saturday.
How will he go on a 7 day back up and does he have a real chance? I like these sudden late entries (at 12/1)

September 11, 2007 at 09:16 #114419In terms of ratings achieved, considering he was running off a BHA mark of 101 whereas Honolulu was off a mark of 111 in the Ebor in a stronger race in which he split 2 rivals that were officially well in, I think 12/1 fairly reflects his chance.

Thanks DJ – I have a few pounds in my Betfair account and was wondering whether to splash out or not

Maybe each way then?
September 11, 2007 at 09:40 #114428If you like him don’t be put off, but as DJ has said 12/1 looks about right. An interesting contender though, he’ll have to improve all the pounds he has so far this season and about double on top of that, horses like Lucarno should be different class to him. Might be a "big" gamble on him though so maybe look for a nice trading position, thats what i’d do.
Thanks Marb
– what’s a ‘nice trading position’?
September 11, 2007 at 10:28 #114431It all may depend on how much water is put on the ground at Doncaster

I thought that the Ebor was a particularly strong race this year and Honolulu ran an excellent race to finish runner up. One worry is that he has not run on fast ground yet so I do not know if he will act on it if it’s on the fast side of good on saturday.
Regal Flush looks to be improving and is obviously in form and must have a chance imo.

September 11, 2007 at 13:31 #114461Regal Flush is on the upgrade – no doubt. Looks a nice e/w pick up at 12s….
September 11, 2007 at 14:23 #114475After the problems of the last week, here’s hoping they don’t have any problems with the ground on Town Moor. They have said they are watering there and if so, any puns involving the unfortunately-named MD of the course Adam Waterworth will write themselves..
September 11, 2007 at 14:36 #114476They will get it right they have to theyve got the stands and other facitlites to monitor as well so hopefully they are well prepared.
September 11, 2007 at 16:21 #114491Hi Kingston, he’s currently best priced 12/1 with ladbrokes which is better than what even betfair are offering. What interesting is all the other main bookies go 10 or shorter, so if you really fancied him what with him being supplemented and all that and wanted to have a sporting bet you could back at best price 12’s, then hope he shortens up a bit and possibly lay him back [8’s?] Thereby giving yourself a free bet if he wins and no lose if he loses.
Just my take on it, my mum tells me I talk a lot of [expletive] sometimes so don’t hold me on it!

Hey that sounds pretty good – I might not lose at all!!
Thanks Marb much appreciated.
Yes I got 12s !!! Oooooooo I hope he wins now

Thanks Swallow Cottage!
It’s good to get all this input if I win I’ll ummmmmm have a drink for you all
I haven’t laid him yet – I think I might wait a little while
September 12, 2007 at 04:03 #114574I reckon Lucarno is a good thing for the Leger- stamina worries are overdone and he’s got the best form in all the right races. Take the 9/2, he’ll start shorter. Horses who have already run over the trip have a terrible record, a major negative for Honoloulu, Mahler, Regal Flush, Samuel and Veracity.
September 12, 2007 at 08:55 #114583Of the horses to have tried and failed at 14f previously, how many of them could have finished second in an Ebor to a winner that was 8 lb well in off a mark of 111?
September 12, 2007 at 09:02 #114584Well my £15 each way is safely in the hands of Betfair and no doubt they will take great care of it until it is returned henceforth Saturday night
with lots of extra added to it
September 12, 2007 at 12:16 #114594What odds did you get matched at KT as I see the price has shrank with most bookmakers over the last 24 hours. Did you get anywhere near 3.5?

Oh dear I got matched at 5.50 – I’m not used to this trading position thingy, but I think I might be OK?
