    I just noticed.

Have to say I think the economy needs ten days of enforced mourning like it needs a hole in the head personally.

But this might not be a popular view!

Millions of people will go to work tomorrow, regardless of today’s sad news. Why should sport be any different?

Surely the day of the funeral should be the time to pause things so people can pay their respects.

I just don’t believe in imposing mourning on people.

The Racing Post is already talking about the amount of racing called off when the previous monarch died.

    The world has CHANGED.

You won’t hear it on the BBC, still less The Daily Mail, but half the country don’t care and just want to get on with their lives.

Absurd to call racing off tbh.

I think they could find themselves in an almighty pickle if they decide to cancel Saturday. That was already an awful field for the Leger and the Champagne Stakes only has 3 declared which is shambolic. The decent weather is done now, it’ll be rain and more rain with each day until next Spring and the ground will turn into a bog before you know it, you can’t just run the flat season with a classic missing it just undermines the whole season. Saying that they’ve basically curtailed the Racing League mid-meeting tonight, not a fan of it but I’d be fuming if I was actually there and had paid for a ticket. It is sad news, she seemed like a grand lady who I admire greatly but I didn’t meet her and to be perfectly frank and honest I doubt I’ll be watching the funeral.

I hope they don’t cancel Saturday’s card, obviously, as I’m going.

Would the Queen have wanted the St Leger, which of course she won in 1977 with Dunfermline, cancelled? I doubt it.

Tbh, couldn’t care less whether she would have wanted it cancelled or not.

    Do WE want it?

I’m just opposed to imposing “marks of respect” or “mourning” on people.

Let racing go ahead and anyone who wants to show their respect can boycott it for as long as they like.

Let the rest of us get on with our lives.

I feel like we’ve all just been transported back in time 100 years.

I should know this but does the field revert back to entry stage for any rescheduling.

The Premier League has postponed Saturday’s fixtures. Cannot see racing going ahead.

St Leger will now be run on Sunday, as part of a nine-race card.

Whats the point? Makes no odds to me but if you’ve booked to go and have accomodation tonight into tomorrow you are stuffed. Why move it one day later. Mind-boggling

“What’s the point?” was my exact reaction too but at least it’s being run, 24 hours later.

Try not to clash with The Curragh too much BHA, you bunch of jokers.

“if you’ve booked to go and have accomodation tonight into tomorrow you are stuffed.”

Which is exactly my predicament. I was already on the train from Kings Cross when the email arrived from Doncaster. My train back is booked for Sunday and I have work on Monday, so can’t even stay for the rescheduled meeting.

I’m now spending several hundred quid just to go on a pub crawl this weekend. 😂

You have my sympathy, Gladders, but your tone suggests you’re commendably “Am
    I bovvered?” about it.

It’s not just racing – as CAS said no football either.

It’s mental tbh, especially in a cost of living crisis.

The world has gone full-on “Daily Mail” – seriously considering an induced coma until after the funeral.

To be fair to the sensitive and highly intelligent men who run racing, those of us who would have been prostrate with grief on Saturday can now crack a few bottles while watching on the TV on Sunday…

Just applied for a refund from ARC; their website says it can take “up to 30 days” to be processed.

Funny, that; it didn’t take them 30 days to take the payment from my account.

I’m sure its easier Gladders for say 20,000 people to pay money into your one account
how many days would it take you to refund them all..?? :rose:

I know, Nathan. Just a bit peeved at the meeting’s being rescheduled at such short notice.
