The internet is full of cash-out/”green up” Houdini tall stories – back in the real world the biggest bookmakers continue to slant cash-out terms heavily in their favour.
First rule of the internet – no one ever loses.
First rule of real life – most of them actually do.
It’s a hard old game.
Tbf there’s more honesty and less aftertiming on TRF than at many places.
It’s one of the things I like about this place.

Westover 9-4
Eldar Eldorov 18-1 ewJune 25, 2022 at 16:12 #1604098Will westover run now?
Think he almost won that too well to end up here
June 25, 2022 at 16:19 #1604100He only beat Piz Badle again as i said in other thread so nothing too flash in the formbook with Tuesday running flat. Desert Crown gets the King George verdict over Westover and Westover comes here probably.
Big opportunity for trainer to get a 2022 classic winner.June 25, 2022 at 18:07 #1604119I’d agree he’d need to lose his next race to be a likely runner
In that case I don’t think it’s worth considering backing him now as he will get bigger if he loses next time

I think the runner up today has run a lot better than he did at Epsom.

Doing an “Aidan”; saying Westover has so much speed and would’ve won at a mile and a quarter today.

Yep. But I’d have beaten that lot.
June 26, 2022 at 10:09 #1604296I love how now people are scrutinising the form as useless after he’s won as he liked.
Piz Badile is a good horse + clearly was off it at Epsom, probably down to the track.
French Claim was mentioned by Twomey a number of times for needing a trip and very much improving for it. I’d say the form isn’t as bad as people are suggesting.
Tuesday obviously off it a little.

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!June 26, 2022 at 10:31 #1604303As previously stated I agree with Jack.
I think the second and third have probably run close to their OR, Tuesday was below par, but the rating of 120 I would have Westover on for that suggests to me Tuesday would have needed a new career best to beat him.
As we all surely know, the world has changed.
We don’t live in a 1m>1m4f>1m6f115yds>2m4f world any more where the Classics are but mere stepping stones to the Gold Cup at four and beyond.
Yet these races still exist at their current distances.
The difference in value between a Flat sire and a NH sire is enormous and if there was any chance at all they could pass off Westover as something other than a staying middle distance horse the commercial pressure to take it would be immense.
Westover looks every inch a St Leger colt to me, but I could see him staying at 1m4f and even trying 1m2f again (Classic Trial winner) at some stage.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"June 26, 2022 at 10:45 #1604304I never said the form was useless tbf. He’s confirmed the Epsom Derby form with the unplaced horse and won well. The Arc is another level and I don’t think he is ‘too good’ for this race unless he improves past Desert Crown and beats the middle distance older horses in the King George (if he goes).
Kingston Hill rated 120 won the St Leger after being 2nd in the Derby, Capri rated 120 won the St Leger after winning the Irish Derby. If there is a golden winning opportunity in a classic then take it I reckon.

It’s a tricky one, as the bookies might put 2 and 2 together and think St Leger has to be the next destination if/when he suffers the King George defeat.
July 2, 2022 at 22:40 #1605107Eldar Eldarov 8/1 for me
Now iv backed Westover for the King George this bet makes sense
I may even have a small double as Westover surely won’t run here if he wins the KG
July 11, 2022 at 16:16 #1606511Eldar Eldarov to run in the grand prix de Paris on Thursday
Piz Badile and El bodegon also lining up
I’d want him to be winning really to show he has that bit of class as well as stamina required for this
July 14, 2022 at 20:04 #1606962Turned into a sprint in the straight as I suspected it might which wouldn’t have suited.
I’ve swapped Westover with Changingoftheguard 15-2 for now, as Westover winning the King George at Ascot which now looks likelier will rule him out of this I expect.
July 18, 2022 at 16:47 #1607580Eldar Eldorov 10/1
Drifted a little after losing in France but had everything against him that day. Distance combined with going was too short and a slowly run race which turned into a sprint was never going to help. Train seems happy he has come out of that race okay and stating what we already know that another step up in distance is what the horse needs.Gaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
July 23, 2022 at 15:51 #1608238Westover has no chance of staying 1m6f if he continues to run that keenly
He’s 5/1 now but I couldn’t have him at double that personally
