Racing post have an article unbeaten colt Darain put through his paces ahead of York mission. I am not a member anymore but could a member shred some light on what is his York mission.
August 12, 2020 at 17:28 #1496981Monument Valley confirmed for Leger Trial on Friday, so I’ll take the 40’s before then.
Plenty of improvement needed, but don’t need much of a risk at those odds.
August 13, 2020 at 08:36 #1497008Its the great voltigeur Mike
A race gosden won with logician last year
if he wins that he will likely be 2nd fav for this
August 13, 2020 at 08:50 #1497009Have had some more on at 17.5 on betfair
Its clearly the target and wouldn’t be surprised if he went off shorter than 4/1 if winning at york
August 13, 2020 at 11:12 #1497014Thanks FF I was hoping it was that race and hopefully the step up in distance will see improvements. I have him at 25’s and 20’s. Had Logician last year 12’s.
August 13, 2020 at 12:50 #1497023I’ve added Darain 16s for now in case he wins the Voltigeur which would then give 2 strings to mi bow for this.
August 13, 2020 at 13:21 #1497026The other horse I like in this is Tiger Moth second in the Irish Derby beaten a head by Santiago. Bet365 10/1 best price. I think a step in distance will show improvements. I haven’t had a bet on him yet.
August 13, 2020 at 14:46 #1497031I wouldn’t be surprised if Santiago confirms the Irish Derby form due to the short break after Ascot to try to win it.
August 13, 2020 at 14:56 #1497033Thanks FF I was hoping it was that race and hopefully the step up in distance will see improvements. I have him at 25’s and 20’s. Had Logician last year 12’s.
From TRF’s own master aftertimer!
Excited to see Micro Manage back in action tomorrow.

I backed Arthur’s Kingdom for this earlier in the season, but he’d have to bounce back a lot from the Irish Derby!

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!August 13, 2020 at 16:52 #1497051I can see Darain going to favouritism for this if he wins the Voltigeur. I know lots of people myself included are very sceptical of how strong the Irish Derby was given the impact of COVID this year, the 3rd has been beaten in a Listed contest today as 5/6Fav and if Darain wins the Voltigeur he probably be beating both horses Santiago has beaten in Tiger Moth and Berkshire Rocco. If he does that well surely he has to go into favouritism. I might back
August 13, 2020 at 17:54 #1497058Agree with that tinman
The main reason I backed darain is because I thought both the irish and English derby looked very poor races
I haven’t seen a 12f 3yo colt that actually looked geniune group 1 class
The hope is that darain will be that horse, if he’s not no problem as you don’t need to put much on at the prices that have been available
August 13, 2020 at 18:03 #1497060I wouldn’t mind a repeat of Logician with Darain.
August 13, 2020 at 22:44 #1497077Ignore Santiago at your peril Tinman/FF

Imo he ran a few lbs below his best in Irish Derby due to the quick turnaround from Ascot. That was also the trainer’s concern. But he showed guts to win. Goes to the Leger a fresher horse.
August 15, 2020 at 16:28 #1497322good performance from hukum
August 15, 2020 at 18:24 #1497332Nice horse that Hukum. He done me a good turn at double figure odds at Ascot, and I quietly fancied him today if he coped with the ground. A Group 1 classic will be another kettle of fish though.
August 16, 2020 at 17:17 #1497424Agree Mike but I’ll have to back him. Stupidly didn’t think about the Leger prior to that run yesterday but that was fairly impressive against higher rated opposition
August 19, 2020 at 14:56 #1497804Darain didnt live up to the hype so cashed out on him.
