The Leger is only as good as the horses who enter it it’s up to the trainers to get their best horses there and support it.

Exactly,I do hope that some real group 1 horses do contended it, but if it’s a bunch of group 3/listed horses that he should outclass anyway then where the glory.

So what did Nijinsky beat in the Guineas,in the Derby, in the Leger? Don’t matter what he beat.He got the fame and glory of winning the Triple Crown.

Absolutely he should go for the Triple Crown.

He’s already proved his worth at a mile and 12 furlongs..what else can it do but boost his value through the roof if he can win the St leger?

Derby winners don’t go for it because they never won the Guineas and Sea the Stars didn’t go because they din’t know for sure if he’d get 12 furlongs in a strong run race after the 7f Derby he won so the risk was way too high.

Camelot looks lie a horse who wouldn’t bat an eyelid if they ask him to run 2 miles and will get the trip with ease IMO.

Milan aside, the recent winners haven’t exactly excelled at stud, have they ?!

Saddler’s Hall was the last horse to run in the St Leger to have any modicum of success as a flat sire. It is hoped that Sixties Icon (beautifully bred) will surpass him. Prior to that we have to go back to Alleged, Bustino and Nijinsky in the 70s.
However, 2000 Guineas winners running in the Leger is a rare occurence, so Camelot would not have the usual profile of a Leger horse.

    But it is irrelevant!

Not many winners of class 6 sellers at Wolves have had success at stud but just because Frankel isn’t running in one doesn’t mean his stud value is enhanced or damaged.

If Frankel ran a 9f seller at Wolves he would win it, if Camelot runs the Leger he would win it – not running in it won’t make him any better or worse at stud.

The triple crown should be attempted because it can be, the success of any triple crown winner at stud will have nothing to do with the Leger.

The worry would be it would have an affect because it may impact on the quality of mares he receives. Not a worry i share.

Of greater concern would be the rather quiet start that sons of Montjeu have made at Stud. Motivator seems to get fillies of a reasonable level but needs a star colt very soon. Hurricane Run could do with Memphis Tennessee picking up a group 1 somewhere this season. The signs for Authorized are not great. However, with Pour Moi, St Nicholas Abbey and Camelot waiting for placement at stud, one of those may come through.

Authorized was never a good stallion prospect as his distaff stamina index is too high.

    Absolutely !

I think he’d win very easily, especially if Aidan O’Brien instructed Joseph to employ the same exaggerated waiting tactics as Lester did on Nijinsky back in 1970.

I didn’t see a thread for this so I thought I’d throw one up.

Will Camelot take the triple crown, or will another horse suprise us?
I personally love Main sequence but am not sure whether he can win it.

    The race is 1m 6f 128y long.

    What are your thoughts?
    Who will win?

Any good value each way bets?

Does anyone think Kesampour will do well?

The odds I reads about and the reason for betting against Camelot only make sense on a roulette table. There is no "going" or "jockey" factors on the roulette table. To take bets now is to also be betting on the right weather for your horse.Hardly a sensible thing to be betting on is it?How does the bet on the weather help your price? As for jockeys, well the best jockey in Europe got boxed in last year so how does it feel to be backing a "lad" to do a better job?

Sadly, the winner is not in the Poll.

Great Heavens. Will love the trip and as long as the ground has cut in it I think she will see off this bunch of mediocre colts.

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

Totally agree (although I do think Camelot is far from mediocre).

The bunch in general are mediocre, Camelot is the best of them but I am very worried about the lack of collateral form forthcoming. He has a racecourse gallop tomorrow at Leopardstown and Attheraces said they will have cameras there. Funnily enough their website stated that this will be before racing but earlier on today on the live show it was said that he would work between the first and second race on the card. Either way, I will try to see it, although I often feel there is little to be learned from these workouts.

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
