Looking forward to seeing Seville run a excellent prep for this race
May 19, 2011 at 09:30 #356066Be interesting to see how Solar Sky runs today after the disappointing run of World Domination.
Looks like Mr Gosden has 2 nice horses available for the Leger now
May 19, 2011 at 09:57 #356071The 3rd, 5th & I think 7th have won since so it’d be a major surprise were he not to win.
May 20, 2011 at 08:18 #356188I should think the punters who took the extremely long odds on Solar Sky were slightly panicking 2 out LOL
That run surely proves what a weak race World Domination won despite having various winners come out of the race.
May 20, 2011 at 12:07 #356207How can you say that when a) World Domination’s RPR for that race has been increased twice, firstly to 99, now to 104, b) the 2nd, 3rd, 5th and 6th all won next time out, and the only thing that stopped the 8th from winning was that he was racing against the 3rd and c) Sunday Bess is a well regarded filly that got the run of the race. She was extremely well-backed on her seasonal reappearance at Newbury (I laid her at 7s, sent off 11/4) and came home flying into 4th at the death. She was run in the Cheshire Oaks last time out and Dascombe’s horses were flying yesterday. Those 2 were 5 lengths clear of the 3rd.
World Domination will win a Group 1 this season. His options will be fairly limited domestically I think due to the owner’s other horses, but the Grand Prix de Paris could be an option after Ascot, as could the Arc or possibly the Champion Stakes.
May 21, 2011 at 07:12 #356349I also saw last night that Sunday Bess is one of 22 fillies to be left in the Oaks at the latest declaration stage. Clearly very well regarded.
June 16, 2011 at 15:01 #360978My 2 ante post St Leger fancies Nathaniel and Solar Sky both run tomorrow and whichever wins easiest will almost certainly shorten up to Fav.
All the nice prices for Nathaniel have disappeared and he looks like the winner to me.
June 16, 2011 at 21:20 #361057SEA MOON is my tip to win ST Leger won a easy race still green he was he be going to York. and i think he run a great trail in that race as well. Before going to Doncaster.
June 20, 2011 at 13:13 #361737The Leger now looks a very nice race indeed should everyone get there fit and well.
I have Nathaniel at 7s but also i have backed Brown Panther at 10s after his awesome destruction of a good looking field last week. Michael Owen is upbeat that they will take this chance and as a young trainer/owner combo this is without doubt the correct decision. he was not stopping and routing a good field in a fast time makes for an exciting prospect.
Have to agree that Sea Moon looks a nice horse too but Solar Sky may not be up to this grade.
June 20, 2011 at 16:27 #361755Nathaniel looks a stonking Leger bet and it is the one of very few races that John Gosden excells in.
June 21, 2011 at 11:03 #361844Gosden’s said today that it’s more unlikely than likely that Nathaniel will go for the Leger. I’m not sure where else he’s thinking of sending him. His pedigree reeks of stamina.
June 21, 2011 at 12:31 #361855My 33s about Solar Sky may be looking a little better then, it appears Lady Rothschild wants to keep Nathaniel at 1 1/2, wonder if Mr Gosden will win the battle?
June 28, 2011 at 02:18 #362702If owners can tell him who to have as stable jockey I am sure they can tell him where to run their horses.
June 28, 2011 at 08:15 #362712Andy: They pay the bills BUT a lot of trainers insist on having the final say in these matters, however Mr Gosden is NOT one of those. I cannot see any way Nathaniel will turn up at the St Leger now so have covered my initial bets.
Not at all confident that some of these will run but have backed them anyway.June 28, 2011 at 08:19 #362714Anyone think Carlton House could go for this?
June 28, 2011 at 12:01 #362734No to the Leger, but – don’t laugh – why not entertain a thought of the Melbourne Cup? The way the Cup is usually run would give CH a reasonable chance esp. in view of WFA allowance. And think of the endless good publicity possibilities! When are the Queen and Prince Philip visiting Australia?
CH has run out of G1 3 year old races here and will I think have a tough time landing a G1 against this year’s group of middle distance older horses. What a coup if he could win or even just run well in Australia’s premier race!
June 28, 2011 at 15:25 #3627553rd and 4th and still it goes on?
he’s just not very good, let it go
