Apparently Ladbrokes are refunding bets on Age of Aquarius. Not sure if that helps anyone here though!
September 10, 2009 at 19:02 #248156I backed AoA in a double with Fame and Glory for the Arc last week with Ladbrokes ……. I wonder if that now becomes a single?
September 10, 2009 at 20:41 #248167This is the dawning of the
Age of Aquarius, Age of aquarius, Aquariiiiiuuus,Aquariiiuus
! So long as he runs,he wins! Multi-Orgasmic!!
More like Erectile Dysfunction!!
September 10, 2009 at 20:58 #248171I’m not annoyed at losing an ante post bet, i’m hacked off because of the timing. Some people will say that’s racing, but that shouldn’t be racing. For those of us who backed AOA, it has ruined the race. If we had been told sooner then fair enough, but we were told right on declaration stage, 24 hours after being told Murtagh would be on AOA and all was well. Fair play to anyone who refunds, publicity stunt or not. At least punters of Boyles and Labbrokes can have a second crack of the whip. I’ve kinda lost interest in the race now. I hope Kite Wood wins for Saaed Bin Suroor, because he is a trainer who works himself to the bone for owners.

Well, assuming the horse was lame. Why are we complaining. We always take that chance.

September 10, 2009 at 22:40 #248195If it is lame, then i’d imagine it just didn’t happen this morning. They would have known and could have told people that there might be a problem, like they did with RVW.

They worked the horse this morning, and the horse pulled up lame. He was not lame the day before or showed any signs of it – Betfair showed no weakness in the horse.
If the horse was lame the day before he would not have worked this morning.
It is antepost betting on horses – take it on the chin and stop looking for someone to blame.
September 11, 2009 at 00:20 #248215I couldn’t agree more.

Yes.
September 11, 2009 at 02:58 #248239This would have been no more than a bloodless piece of light work for STS and an emphatic triple crown would be complete…..on route to the Arc or BCC.
If I owned the beast, I’d honestly take in all three with absolutely nothing to lose should it go tits up. The horse seems to have a great constitution and zest for the track….
Dreaming again, I know, but what rating could you throw at STS if that happened?…
Oh yes, the Leger…. erm….Monitor Closely, I suppose
September 11, 2009 at 03:05 #248241The double is actually down cause he struck the bet before the last dec so its money all in run or not, so AOA is deemed a loser and not a non runner,

It’s fine saying that and normally I would agree but I get the distinct impression AOB regards himself as above the public and takes tell them nothing to the extreme. I didn’t fancy the horse one iota and think he’s a bit of a boat so have lost nothing just think the man’s a dick.
September 11, 2009 at 12:49 #248266So let me see now, the horse is declared and everything is fine and then after that on his last workout he goes lame, whereas the public is then informed. Now I dont exactly know down to the minute what was relayed when but seems to me all is above board here. Antepost bets come with more risk so make sure the reward is worth it.
To state and I quote here:

is simply preposterous. You’ve apparently never been within a country mile of a horse barn. I imagine I would have won 10 grand on STS last Saturday if I had placed the commensurate bet to win that amount
Fist: Calling O’Brien a dick is out of line dont you think?
I’m not what you would call a fan of the Ballydoyle/Coolmore operation in any way. Far from it actually but still some sense of civility should be applicable here.
September 11, 2009 at 13:02 #248267The punters money breathes air into horse racing, yet we get treated with utter contempt. We’ve every right to be suspicous or criticise when we want. O’Brien has a history of withdrawls in dis-proportion with other stables. Are you telling me that nobody should be criticised because nobody in horse racing makes under hand moves, brendan ?

I’m sure he’ll survive

Maybe Graeme hasn’t been in many yards but more than a few on here have……. I’ve seen one ot two in my time, having ridden out hundreds of times, mixed socially with several trainers and jockey and often heard one thing and read another.
That aside which story do you believe? The one that said AOB wasn’t 100%happy with him or the one when they said he was lame?
In my limited experience of riding out all over the place, most horse who are runing on a Saturday do there last bit of serious work on a Tuesday at least they did in the yards I rode out at…have a couple of days light excercise and a quick blow out on the Friday to clear the old pipes……what amazes me is how many horses go lame on Thursdays. Must be something in they put in the swimming pool

Question all you like, but stop acting as if you "guesses" are confirmed facts when they are far from it.
September 11, 2009 at 15:08 #248280I’ll change how i think just for you
