Dettori gets a 7 day ban & a £4k fine for breaking whip rules, have to say in real time I didn’t see it as a whip happy ride at all.
June 19, 2018 at 17:36 #1357388With the 3yo milers looking average as someone said earlier in 2000g thread (poss MOM was it?) and the Queen Anne looking a poor renewal, not sure the mile division will be exciting for a year or two.
Might be a bit harsh on Without Parole as he’s only on his 4th start, but he doesn’t cry “star” to me either. Regardless, his master trainer JG will maximise his potential.

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!June 19, 2018 at 18:15 #1357394Well done to all that were on Without Parole, he looks a decent animal. It was just one of those
things for Wootten, he didn’t break very well and Barzelona kept him right out the back. When they
came round the final bend, Barzalona made ground on the inside, but there was never going to be
any way through there. By the time he tried to alter his course he was cut off a couple of times
before finishing well for 3rd. I know it could be said that I’m talking through my pocket, but I
think I’m pretty good at taking it on the chin when it doesn’t go to plan, it’s worked well for me
as many times when others didn’t get the breaks and mine did. That’s racing, as they sayJune 19, 2018 at 18:20 #1357396I did Without Parole at 12/1 ages ago as a starter for ten in the race and then had zero confidence in him. Small bets for me of course but it helps soften the 33/1 on Sergei Prokofiev going west.
I thought Tip Two Win would have done a bit better today but it was Gustav Klimt who seemed more like himself after two pretty tame efforts previously.
I had big concerns for Romanised and reckoned his Irish Guineas was a fluke, it’s over to him to prove otherwise.
Aidan is running US Navy Flag into the ground to prove some sort of point it seems. Good luck with that project.
A lucky winner for me in the end but I’ll take it.
I am reserving judgement on the Sussex for now.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
June 19, 2018 at 18:31 #1357398Had Without Parole in a double with Monarchs Glen which has well and truly paid for all my Ascot bets and then some.
Big – think Wootten could be a big player in the later mile races (Moulin & QE2) when the ground is likely to be softer (he has won on very soft and heavy) which would also likely mean WP could be an absentee based on his Sandown run.
June 19, 2018 at 18:42 #1357401Well done LD, that’s a nice double
I agree, and I’m not ready for writing Wootton off yet either. It’s certainly a plus he can
handle soft ground, although to be honest I think he handled the ground okay today, he
just got himself into a lot of trouble. It will be interesting to see where he goes from
here.June 19, 2018 at 18:43 #1357402I watched Attheraces a few weeks ago , prior to the Guineas , where Jamie Lynch of Timeform , singled out Without Parole as the potential winner of the first classic , with further improvement to come from the John Gosden trained colt .
Thankfully , I took a mental note there and then , and today it paid dividends .
Dettori, with the possible exception of Ryan Moore , rides Ascot better than any other jockey . I thought he gave Without Parole a super ride .
Gambling Only Pays When You're Winning
June 19, 2018 at 19:14 #1357415Did you not do the place lay on WP then Steve as you advised? If not then yes well done on a lucky winner seeing as you ditched him like a cheating girlfriend!! 😄😄😄
Note to self – when JG says he has a good one we should believe him….
"this perfect mix of poetry and destruction, this glory of rhythm, power and majesty: the undisputed champion of the world!!!"
June 19, 2018 at 20:04 #1357424The finish reminded me of Frankel holding on from a closing Zoffany!
June 20, 2018 at 00:03 #1357450Cheers lads.
Still maintain hed have gone very close if fully fit for the Guineas.
Yes it was me Jack who said all season that this years milers looked a poor crop. And I stick with that.
June 20, 2018 at 14:12 #1357556Gosden revealed: “Without Parole came back from the St James’s Palace Stakes with a cut on his leg after a rival struck into him at the end of the first furlong and pulled off one of his hind shoes.
