I cut down the size of a lot of my Antepost Bets last year, but I was really confident about Midnight River in this, and he was definitely a bigger loser. He’s not been since his fall in this last year (was a strange one), and he’s the main hope again. Was just about to bet him there, but held off, as at this stage I want bigger than 16’s.

Apple Away is another I’d like for this, think he’s perfect for it, while Ballygriffincottage and Beauport also make some appeal

I’ll definitely have a good look at whatever Mullins enters, and though Nick Rockett looks obvious at this stage, I’d love to see Janidil entered, along with Appreciate It, and Classic Getaway. I’m expecting Appreciate It to win a big handicap this year

Early days, but hoping to see better than 16’s for Midnight River

Horantzou D’Airy is an interesting horse for the season ahead. He’s my early thought for this, but he’s not priced up yet. Monty’s Star could have a good season too, and he’s maybe shorter than I’d like to see just now at 14/1

Personally find it impossible to bet in these types of races where you’re simply guessing as to who’s gonna show up.

But James Du Berlais is going to win one of these kinds of races so would be my bet at the 5 day stage. And his price won’t alter too much from now I wouldn’t imagine.

I think there is a nice prize in Trelawne this season but Unibet going as low as 12s is off-putting.

I quite like Monbeg Genius at this stage. 3rd last year off 2lbs higher when he could have jumped a lot better, his season went backwards thereafter. He was owned by Michelle Mone and her dodgy husband at the time but has since sold to Wasdell Group who sponsor Jonjo’s yard. I could envisage a world in which he was quiet under the old connections due to the ongoing investigation into them… but that’s just my imagination convincing me he is a solid bet at 25/1.

Broadway Boy is my early call for this, but I think that I will wait until the initial entry stage at the very least

I think that 20-1 is very fair for Apple Away, so I’ve went with him as the ante-post selection, though I also think that Shakem Uparry could be interesting at around 40-1

Grandero Bello at 20s is my first bet.

Gave the race fit subsequent Troytown winner 8lb and a beating on reappearance at Galway, rain has come at last, if he can stay sound and show up he has a chance.

If Nassalam doesn’t run the weights could well go up a stone which means Midnight River who is 11 stone now would carry top weight. Others near the head of the weights have other targets. So something to bear in mind. Not a betting race for me at this stage with all that going on.

buckers I was half interested in Apple Away as well but I don’t think she is running – trainer was saying there are other options that are more preferable last I heard. Shakem Uparry doesn’t run, didn’t shine on the gallops.

Apple Away most likely to go form listed mares Chase at Market Rasen.
Sad to see the cream of the entries disappearing from the race

If we assume the top 3 aren’t going to run as they all had gruelers today then Chianti Classico would top the weights? Lovely horse but if he’s the best horse in the race officially then its one of the worst Hennessy’s I can recall.

Looking down through the weights there is literally nothing jumping out at me as being well in here, maybe Apple Away but no idea if this is the plan. We’ll see how the declarations go but it might not take much winning this year.

Trainer prefers other targets he said the last I heard.

Monbeg Genius ran a lovely race first time out today.

If he’s there at 5 day stage I’ll back him but I’m hoping he’s being aimed at the Welsh national again.

I’d be surprised if Monbeg Genius turns up for this.

So would I tbh Mike. But he’d have a lovely weight. Jumps beautifully and travels.

He’s a big price for the Welsh national and would undoubtedly run well in it. But 4m in hock deep ground isn’t guaranteed to be his thing. A very niche type of horse wins the Welsh national. But that seems to be where he’s being aimed.

F’in ridiculous that the entries for that aren’t out yet by the way! :negative:

Missed the price, but I’ve long believed that Victtorino is graded material. I’ll have a good go on him, especially with the stable coming good.
