What???
Only Eagle mountain out of the significant runners as i recall…
Who else?
Whichever way you look at it, at least Lucarno has held up the derby form (as has the well beaten SOF himself
) and perhaps Aqaleem tooI havent studied the Irish derby in minute detail but frankly its looks pretty ordinary
September 21, 2007 at 21:36 #115887Sadly not a double figure price, I backed him after yesterday at 5/1. Nothing between him and Authorized imo and has had the perfect Arc prep.
there were 8 lengths between them at Epsom

SOF’s Irish derby win is looking very much like a "what did he beat race?" race. Hes had the right prep but his form simply isnt as strong as Authorized. Just isnt…
In his comeback race, he’s put a couple of other Arc fancies in their place (despite not being fully fit ) on ground that everyone thought he wouldn’t handle in a time three seconds faster than the wonder horse Manduro.
Seems pretty decent to me.
September 22, 2007 at 20:33 #116025Epsom is irrelevent with regard to SoF`s Arc chance. He raced too close to a fast pace in a race that suited the come from behind animals like Authorized and Eagle Mountain.
September 22, 2007 at 22:17 #116046To me it looks like the Arc will be a pretty wide open race and I will take a close look at all contenders before I make my choice. Concerning the 2 Derby winners Soldier Of Fortune is – as mentioned – improving with every race, Authorized could already have reached his top.
September 26, 2007 at 12:39 #116533I don’t think it’s a "wide open race" at all, in fact it is easily reduced to 6 runners- Authorised, Soldier, Zambesi, Dylan, Mandesha and a sneaky outsider Saddex. Even Dylan is doubtful if it rains. Could be a small field by the look of things unless Ballydoyle run some pacemakers. I’ll give you a good price on the winner coming from outside those six!
