I thought that 9-4 was incredibly generous for Pic D’Ohry, so he is my selection here, in a race that will no doubt cut up big time
January 9, 2024 at 22:59 #1676786Banbridge was scandalously taken out of the Turners (me and CAS are still in therapy about it) because of the allegedly-Soft ground so believe he’s running when you see him lining up at the start.

Anyway, I would like to see him win on Saturday because I am on at 25/1 for the Ryanair…

You and me both!
I’m also on him for the Ryanair so, if he rocks up at the Sunbury venue, I similarly hope he wins half the track.

The more I know the less I understand.
January 11, 2024 at 15:00 #1676924I think this race could have major ramifications for the Ryanair betting. With Allaho and Stage Star blotting their copy books somewhat over Xmas, if there is a good winner here, particularly if its Edwardstone conceding weight all round, they could be catapulted to the front of the market. I’m not a fan of Pic D’Orhy at all, don’t think he’s beaten any horse over fences who wasn’t either regressing or particularly good, really well placed by Nicholls. This is the deepest company he’s faced since Shishkin swatted him aside with ease and I think Banbridge and Edwardstone will do the same. Can’t decide between them two as to who I’d back.
January 11, 2024 at 15:46 #1676930Tricky race to call this one. Banbridge rated 155 so supporters will be hoping he is better than that. Edwardstone could rip the field apart if 2 and a half miles is what he wanted all along but he’s 10 now so hard to know.
Pic D’Orhy is solid enough but isn’t a superstar though may not need to be. Janidil isn’t a total no hoper and Notlongtillmay another with a few lbs to find on ratings.January 11, 2024 at 20:43 #1676950Janadil is standout bet at 16s here.
Still has the ability at his age, as much as I like Banbridge, he seems to find one too good in the more competitive races
January 12, 2024 at 00:48 #1676963Been touting Banbridge for fair while now, and he’s just a very good horse. Pic D’Ohry a massive danger here though, and can see them fighting it out.
On Banbridge for Ryanair here at 25’s, so no not much point betting him here.
The one I will bet is Janidil. Very good on his day, and not far behind these. Didn’t get a chance at the 16’s. I’ll start chipping away at the 14’s. Hard one to call with him. He could get well backed or drift, who knows, but I’ll hopefully get bigger.
January 12, 2024 at 13:44 #1677008Good to soft is pretty much as soft as Banbridge wants it so he might be better watched until hopefully he gets some Spring ground at the Festivals especially as all his rivals have a race fitness advantage over him.
For me Edwardstone really needs to be winning this otherwise he really will be in no mans land as to what they do next if he can’t but I still remain unconvinced that a step up in trip is what he is crying out for.
Ordinarily as it is a G2 race I would be with Pic D’Orhy as to me he is an out and out G2 horse (his only G1 win against Fakir D’oudairies and Minella Drama doesn’t read that well and he has been found out in other G1 races) so with a couple of true G1 horses in the race, this again maybe a little deep for him….unless of course Banbridge & Edwardstone underperform then he will likely be the one to take advantage.
January 12, 2024 at 14:26 #1677021Regards Edwardstone, strictly speaking he doesn’t need to be crying out for the trip, he’s officially the best horse at the weights and simply staying the trip at a similar level of ability should be enough. He might look like he’s improved for it but really he’s just racing against lesser horses than Jonbon and El Fab. I do think Banbridge is better than a 155 horse but actually at the weights he’s got a bit to find so I probably will side with Edwardstone. Don’t forget with him he didn’t run in the Arkle until he was an 8yo so he might have more in him than your typical 10yo chaser.
January 13, 2024 at 09:16 #1677102I think Notlingtillmay showed decent form this season and the form of the Turners novice chase is looking good. On level weights I wouldn’t choose him, but the 6 pounds can make the difference here in such a close field.
Notlingtillmay 5/1
January 13, 2024 at 13:08 #1677150Sorry wrong race please delete
January 13, 2024 at 13:09 #1677152I’m gutted they didn’t try Edwardstone in the King George, but alas. I think this race was designed for him.
January 13, 2024 at 13:26 #1677156Worried Banbridge is so big , played but not convinced today is his day ,
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
January 13, 2024 at 14:14 #1677171You just can’t Ban the Bridge.
The moral winner of the Turners obliges, enhances his Ryanair claims, and leaves me and CAS marginally less grumpy than we were five minutes ago.

If he gets his ground, he is a player in the Ryanair.
