He’s still better than Warrior , Mullins has had Warrior primed for a autumn campaign , the KG was his main aim , he failed , I’ll keep going back to last year , Willie missed the festival with him , he was fit but they didn’t go …
December 30, 2025 at 07:58 #1749066Looking at Ryanair Chase betting, it looks almost like a match between Fact to File and Gaelic Warrior. Would expect GW to go there as don’t think Townend has another ride in the race. 2m5f there seems perfect for him. Would be surprised to see him in GC.
December 30, 2025 at 09:19 #1749076First time GW lost in a year… he broke the ultra consistent Fact to File in the Durkan, that horse hasn’t been the same since. Maybe FTF is now the fragile horse and GW takes his place in the Ryanair either way he wins a Ryanair or he wins a Gold Cup

Charles Darwin to conquer the World
December 30, 2025 at 09:57 #1749079Townend could ride either Impaire Et Passe or Champ Kiely in the Ryanair were they to turn up and GW goes to Gold Cup.
December 30, 2025 at 11:29 #1749086HDLG, you seem like a nice bloke but you post some total shite. The fact that Gaelic Warrior didn’t run at the festival last season doesn’t materially affect his chances in 2026.
And since when did WPM have his horses primed for an autumn campaign? The world and his wife know that Willie brings them on gradually to peak at the big spring meetings.
Maybe you forgot that Gaelic Warrior won at both Aintree and Sandown last season?
December 30, 2025 at 12:22 #1749092HDLG got me there with the Mullins’ autumn campaign. I think he might have laid GW for the Gold Cup (win and also for a place) and now he doesn’t want him to run. That’s all…. I’m sure he’s aware, but also afraid of the horse’s potential.
December 30, 2025 at 12:36 #1749096Some people just don’t take to certain horses for some reason or another and I get the feeling HDLG really doesn’t like Gaelic Warrior much.
I think he’s an absolute beast of a horse but much better going right than left. He has won left but it’s his sheer class which has enabled him to do that. He beat Grey Dawning at Aintree but for me, he never looked comfortable throughout the race. Grey Dawning wasn’t the same horse after a brutal Betfair chase either.
Townend even chose Embassy Gardens over him that day so I’m guessing he mustn’t have fancied the horse left handed. After watching all Willies charges over the Christmas period, I’ve been left even more impressed by GW’s King George effort. He had an extremely tough race in the Durkan plus Willies stable is badly out of form and yet he’d still have won if Townends whip hadn’t gotten stuck between the last and the line.
I still think Townend will be on Galopin in the Gold Cup though and without him, Gaelic Warriors chances plummet.
December 30, 2025 at 12:42 #1749098Yeah – no horse will have its chances improved by a jockey who bungles in a Grade One.

I’ve tried to explain this to HDLG already. He seems fixated of the occasional poor runs left handed even though he has won at the Festival that way round (and Aintree). It seems he isn’t forgiving of them at all, even when discussing races on right handed tracks and looking a happy animal upped in trip, and therefore perhaps thinks he’s ‘a bit rubbish’. Which he isn’t. Maybe he just doesn’t like him, it might be that.
December 30, 2025 at 15:17 #1749112Garlic Bread has one poor run to his name: when beaten by Fact To File at the DRF.
All horses should be excused one substandard effort; the mighty (sic) Lossiemouth got beaten by Gala Marceau a couple of years ago. Which is the better horse? 🤔
December 30, 2025 at 15:32 #1749113He put in another poor run at the DRF last year but I think that was more due to a curious ride by Townend.
December 30, 2025 at 15:57 #1749114Why did Mullins not take warrior to the festival , he was fit and healthy , he decided to take the easier route with Aintree and a grade 2 , he didn’t believe he could win did he, I’ve said warrior is a talented horse however he has issues , he’s not straight forward , I’m not talking shite , disagree all you want but Townsend ain’t getting off Galopin to ride him , if you believe he will go back him , I don’t see him reversing the KG form , Jukebox may still be improving
December 30, 2025 at 16:05 #1749115Not as many issues as you. 😂

I don’t think he was that healthy after his 3rd place at the DRF. This is what the RP comment told us:
“Jumped right on occasions, in touch with leaders, towards rear 5th, headway and went modest fourth before 3 out, went modest third last, no match for first two (vet reported gelding to have a small skin wound over lateral sesamoid left fore but to be otherwise post race normal) ”
It might have caused him to bypass Cheltenham, imo.
December 30, 2025 at 16:28 #1749117Glad your walking the line , don’t overstep it , if you want to disagree fine , I’ve no issues , I asked why he didn’t go to the festival , that’s a fact he didn’t , if you love him back him , you pays your money you takes your choice , however don’t make me out to be a fool , I’m not
December 30, 2025 at 16:28 #1749118Ruby Mullins didn’t use this as an excuse
December 30, 2025 at 16:34 #1749119I think GM or someone already posted he didn’t go to the festival because he wasn’t running well enough for a Champion Chase
His next race was a big step up in trip at Aintree… They changed planCharles Darwin to conquer the World
