Therefore, McCoy as a UK (United Kindom of Great Britain & Northern Ireland) citizen/subject could be knighted and would correctly be referred to as ‘Sir A.P….’

Why would Tony McCoy or Martin Pipe for that matter want to join the list of ‘knights’ that includes some eyecatchingly undeserving or ‘over promoted’ members ( Terry Wogan,Elton John,Mick Jagger,Tom Jones,Donald Sinden,Ben Kingsley) to name a few. The truly great don’t need this increasingly cheapened ,over used and discredited form of recognition.
