Can you please tell me what he’s done that’s ‘good’? Because I’m struggling to think of anything.
February 1, 2022 at 14:30 #1580897Wracking my brains too
February 1, 2022 at 15:54 #1580908Election promises delivered?
“Levelling up” occurring?
I’m struggling a bit too, tbh.
He hasn’t eaten a baby live on TV as yet – I guess that’s a positive.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"February 1, 2022 at 16:11 #1580912This is silly
The vaccine roll out was tbe worlds best of any major country. By quite a margin. Tbe boosters too. And even now uk is being hailed as first country out of the pandemic
Remember that sturgeon and kier would have committed us to the eu roll out under the unbelievably useless Ursula and her lazy muppets
He appointed exactly the right people (who the guardian famously rubbished)
That’s all.under his watch and responsibility regardless of whether he is liked
He faced down the incompetent arrogant discredited clowns at sage and was proved 100 % correct whereas other uk leaders were 100% wrong. And that took some nerve
How can anyone not recall all this???
February 1, 2022 at 16:13 #1580913“You were the one who brought up Margret Thatcher, BigG; saying about her being well behind in the polls before going to war… But you did NOT say – either way – whether going to war was the right or wrong thing to do and imo it was important to point out it was definitely the right thing. Indeed, imo it is only right to point that out.”
Why would I have to mention it, and why is it “important to point out it was definitely the right thing”
You’re doing what polititions do, answering a question that wasn’t asked on a point that wasn’t made.
The point I was making, and the reason I mentioned Thatcher was because of how she was seen to handle the Falklands situation, it had a huge turn around in the polls. Perhaps Boris sees the Russia/Ukraine
situation as maybe his Maggie moment (and I don’t mean going to war)“I know the left like to forget about all the good someone does if they make one (admittedly big) mistake – just look at how Labour treated Blair and SNP treat Salmond… And how the left want to get rid of statues.”
You’re obsessed with “the left” Ginge. I don’t consider myself on the left or right. I’d honestly
vote for whatever party looks capable to run the country. If you (and I mean the Conservative party)
had the common sense to elect Rory Stewart, I would have considered voting Tory as I think he had
common sense and had genuine values. I voted SNP because I like their values. I’m just back from
having a scan for an Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm, as every male in Scotland over 65 (I just qualify)
gets a letter giving them an appointment to go for one, as it is a killer. If you have one and you
don’t happen to be lying on operating theatre bed, you’re Dead. It’s sensible priorities that make
for decisions made with the best interests of the people that make good partys. I don’t care which
party that happens to be.I’m glad you call for him to resign Ginge, we’re of the same mind there. I think I’ll leave on that
happy note.
February 1, 2022 at 16:19 #1580914And please….no responses saying the roll out was all down to the nhs
Nooo
It was driven by procurement
That’s it
Also I know voters who are not committed Tories who still give more value to the vaccine roll out than wallpaper and drinks at no 10
And is that totally wrong?
February 1, 2022 at 16:29 #1580915Yes, it is totally wrong.
This is not about “wallpaper and drinks”. It’s about the fact that the prime minister is an inveterate liar.
February 1, 2022 at 16:37 #1580918The ‘good’ that Johnson has done? Destabilised N Ireland and Scotland, not that English voters care
February 1, 2022 at 16:47 #1580920Got some sympathy for both viewpoints, Glad’.
imo Johnson should resign for misleading Parliament over “wallpaper and drinks”.
Being “misleading” is enough.
But When you think Blair didn’t resign despite misleading Parliament in order to to go to war…Does seem trivial in comparison.
Value Is EverythingFebruary 1, 2022 at 16:58 #1580921Northern Ireland and Scotland were the biggest reason I voted Remain, befair; but I was wrong.
For too many years Northern Ireland has been ruled by religion.
Time to break the chains perhaps.
No longer can Northern Ireland or Scotland be used as an excuse to hold back the majority of the UK that voted for Brexit.
Value Is EverythingFebruary 1, 2022 at 17:10 #1580922Clive, do you remember all the slogens prior to the elections, “take back
control”, “Protect our Borders” There have never before been higher numbers
of illegal immigrants to our shores. The leveling up and Northern Powerhouse has completely fallen by the wayside.
Does it seem fair that from 2023 implementation of Social Care Rules mean
that lower-asset households will pay a proportion for social care, before
hitting a cap of £86,000. The effect of this is that pensioners with expensive
homes in the south will remain a higher percentage of their assets than
pensioners in the north where house prices are lower. Doesn’t sound much
like leveling up to me.This Government fooled a lot of people in the north to change their votes
to Conservative at the last election. I doubt they will be fooled again.February 1, 2022 at 17:18 #1580923Ginge- agree totally about Tony B.Liar. He should have resigned.
February 1, 2022 at 17:35 #1580925Yes Ginge, spot on about Blair. The devistation he caused
going to war without confirmation about weapons of mass destruction
was/is a national shame.February 1, 2022 at 18:24 #1580930As I’m neither a Conservative nor a rabid socialist, I actually quite liked Tony Blair pre-Iraq.
The electable moderate face of Labour.
But it’s never a good look for a Labour PM to be behaving like a Republican USA President’s gimp and the single reason why Harold Wilson, not Blair, was Labour’s best post-Clement Attlee (his government created the NHS) PM was that Wilson wouldn’t cave in to Richard Nixon over Vietnam and Blair completely caved in to George W Bush over Iraq.
Blair should have resigned, Boris Johnson should resign.
But won’t.
However, that’s alright.
I’m well up for Kier Starmer continuing to wipe the floor with him every Wednesday lunchtime between now and 2024.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"February 1, 2022 at 18:27 #1580931Yet another pointless pissing contest, brilliant…
Anyway, the Ukraine situation. I find things like this all rather sad really. Politicians dick waving ends up spilling over into something worse and it’s ordinary people who will suffer. Two fascinating countries, both of which I’ve been fortunate enough to visit and would love to go back to. Why can’t we all just get along?
February 1, 2022 at 18:43 #1580935Ask Putin.
Value Is EverythingFebruary 1, 2022 at 18:47 #1580936Some fair comment from Clive – the vaccine roll out has been a success and decisions to avoid further lockdowns appear to have been vindicated.
But here’s the thing – Kier Starmer is a successful career man from a legal background.
He will have earned good money, he doesn’t need the hassle of being in politics and he’s got every reason to be a Tory voter to keep his taxes low.
But he isn’t.
Why?
Some might say it’s because he’s a patronising and condescending control freak who, like all Labour politicians, is an authoritarian at heart and wants to impose his values on others.
But I think he’s simply a decent, honest, bloke with a social conscience.
Bit boring (but I’ve had enough of vacuous “celebrity” world leaders – Trump, Johnson), but a guy you could trust to run the country with integrity.
Tax will be a bit higher, but public services will be a bit better.
Johnson, on the other hand, is a Tory with every reason to be a Tory.
Privilege has propelled him into a position of power he has no right to be in.
He is the very antithesis of meritocracy and egalitarianism.
Disgusting, vile, man, frankly – and most people can see it now.
So definitely the bloke Starmer wants to be facing at the 2024 hustings.
Heaven forbid the Tories replace Johnson with someone of integrity – Tom Tugendhat, for example.
