grasshopper no need for the insults you sweaty cretin.
twisting over £20. only a scotsman would.August 15, 2009 at 12:01 #244002hoofhearted – how many computers have you got?
if i’m using my main PC i’ll put the RUK live stream on the laptop and if i’m using the laptop i’ll put the ruk live stream on the main pc – you can log on with more than one computer and watch RUK full screen on one with no time delay and betfair-away on the other one – with laptops costing from about 240 now, saving the 20/mth will pay for one
August 15, 2009 at 12:28 #244015SB, I have only the one — and it’s enough to be going on with!
I don’t intend frittering another 400 quid on another laptop to watch something that is primarily designed for the TV platform.
There is also the issue that using Gruss — a bandwith hungry beast — simultaneously with live-streaming of RUK via my 3Mg broadband could well result in a severe quality deterioration of one or both data streams.I would like to receive RUK the "Old Skool" way via my television. But that seems too much to ask according to RUK who by keeping me "on hold" for an aggregate of over 3 hours at national call rates so far this week seem to be putting up every obstacle to me giving them €25 p/month.
I’ve tried again this morning to no avail. I’ve grown quite tired of this now, and think I will give up on it for the time being.
RUK, you’ve won — you’ve knocked the will to live right out of me!
August 15, 2009 at 12:32 #244017Signed up via Sky
Lewey, on reading your post I immediately contacted SKY this morning to request the same!
But SKY won’t play ball — they tell me I have to contact RUK directly.
So, I dunno.
Maybe it is just Sky Ireland that have this policy ( of not taking RUK subscriptions through SKY)?
Have any other of you folks in the UK joined RUK via Sky?August 16, 2009 at 19:39 #244179i’ve changed my mind, i think that £0.65 is a total rip off. hoc aye de nu
August 16, 2009 at 21:00 #244194I phoned up on Saturday to subscribe via Virgin Media.
When i switched on today they’d actually removed the channel…….
I had the impression when speaking to India on Saturday that the lady had no idea what RUK was, didn’t understand that it had been ‘free’ but that now it was becoming a subscription channel and that I wanted to subscribe to carry on receiving it.
She knew all about 20 Meg broadband and e-mailing me special offers though, I’ll give her that……………
August 17, 2009 at 16:21 #244312Rang the Virgin Media line on Saturday afternoon to re-subscribe to the £20 per month package (on top of my existing Virgin Media L subscription), and had a very amiable conversation with the operative during which what I requested was established beyond doubt.
Checked this morning and RUK had vanished from channel 536 having still been there at gone midnight last night.
Would that also be the experience of anyone else who has done the same? And has it come back on for you since then? I’m merely putting it down to a few early teething troubles unless given any cause to think otherwise – maybe if it’s not back by the time I get home tonight.
Reliance on RUK coverage from laptop rather than television screen isn’t really practicable for me, for broadly similar reasons to those of Hoofhearted’s. It’s a necessary evil, and for the price of one £5 win bet fewer per week an eminently liveable-with one.

August 17, 2009 at 16:26 #244313Signed up online for RUK Online a few days ago, which of course involves providing them with an email address. The next day I got spam from a tipster. Be careful what email address you give them imo.

I re-subscribed on Sunday afternoon with Virgin Media . When I tuned
in on Monday afternoon the message on screen said that the channel was not available because I hadn’t subscribed .I rang Virgin Media and was told to switch off from the wall and then switch on again so that he could send some signals .
Normal service was resumed immediately . When I asked for an explananation he said he didn’t know .August 17, 2009 at 22:15 #244381Ours has gone off and i am not going to subscribe as we pay just over £60 for our package which includes unlimited internet on the XL package so to have an extra £20 for just one channel is scandalous.
With the current amount of sponsors that they have on RUK it should be free.
August 17, 2009 at 22:57 #244388Blimey……….my telly has gone bust………..
Oh well……..now I’ve subscribed to RUK via Virgin Media, I think the subscription includes ‘free’ online streaming at the RUK site.
Anybody else with VM tried to access this ?
How do you do it ?
I’ve registered on the RUK site but can only find links which involve paying another £ 9.99 a month.
How do you get the ‘free’ service if you’re a VM subscriber ?
August 18, 2009 at 04:12 #244468Just to let people know RUK are showing the 1st four races this week from today (tues) free of charge and they are also giving free coverage from 2-5 on saturday so if anyone is thinking of subscribing you could leave it until sunday and save a few days money if you dont mind missing the latter races from York.

In the event, a quick ring back to the operative established that they were still working through the backlog of people’s accounts to turn on / turn on again, and it was all up and running once more within another half hour.
Tick, v.g. Thanks, Virgin Media. Even if the fare which awaited me – six helpings of Kempton – wouldn’t necessarily have been my first choice on this occasion.

August 18, 2009 at 16:32 #244518I am currently an ex-RUK subscriber. £20 is a lot for one channel – especially as I work "normal" hours & most evenings defer to "normal" telly (i.e. what the good lady likes to watch).
I may become a "seasonal" subscriber during the jumping season "proper" when more of the big events are not covered by terrestrial, but will wait and see.
August 18, 2009 at 18:25 #244540Yes it’s all getting a bit ridiculous & I’m certainly not paying another £20 a month for Racing UK, on top of my package deal that I have with Virgin.
Is it just me or are companies now introducing all these add ons & extra charges – Betfair, Racing Post, Racing UK …………….When will It all stop ??

August 18, 2009 at 21:58 #244598Strangely enough, I am still receiving full RUK programming on Channel432 even though I have not yet succeeded in subscribing.
(All six York races and now this evening’s Nottingham racing coming thru’ loud and clear)August 19, 2009 at 00:13 #244629I’m with shreek and Katie on this, I’m getting RUK as part of the RP pack which I think is necessary but it has disappeared from VM, so be it.
