:( just not good enough. Chased a relentless pace and got burned for it.

That’s a ridiculous winner we’ve got there. He’s some horse.

Crikey; for a minute I thought something bad was happening to Might Bite. When Nico gets a horse into a rhythm like that there’s no stopping him. What a horseman he is; best around at the moment.

That has to be one of the best races I’ve ever seen. Unbelievable.

    Marinero wins the RSA…
    …For Might Bite.

Loose horse going past him made Might Bite get concentration back.
Had winner as a saver but cost me quite a bit with Whisper main bet.
However, connections and backers of the winner deserve the pot.
Nico did another “Coneygree”, going too fast early, horse must need to lead to do that. Suspect ability-wise, sectionals will say Might Bite is considerably better than Whisper.

Halfway up the run in I was thinking Might Bite was about to become the unluckiest horse in training as he’d essentially blown two strong fields apart at both Kempton and Cheltenham and was about to lose both

He strikes me as something of a cross between Denman and Sprinter Sacre, hype maybe but he’s clearly seriously good. Must be a good bet for the king george later in the year, will be interesting to see what his odds are now

I heard 3/1 King George, 10/1 Gold Cup.
    Does he wear ear plugs?
If not think he’ll be wearing them/hood soon.

If he does Ginger I’ll give him the swerve.

Don’t like horses wearing headgear and broke my golden rule yesterday with Yanworth.

Hopefully they’ll see sense and leave it off.

Fascinating horse to watch, Might Bite. You wouldn’t want to take him on the way he tanks along in front but give him enough rope and he’ll power away.

They might need to find a way to hold him up. He stopped racing there and was looking for the paddock gate. He wasn’t tired.

Having backed Might Bite at 10/1 and again at 6/1 ante-post I had big expectations today. I also napped him for the purposes of OLBG’s Cheltenham Preview when he was 6/1. I took a fair bit of flak on that forum, not least of all from the Moderators, so I was obviously hoping my opinion would be seen to be correct, especially since I politely told them to shove their forum up their fart pipe.

Anyway, imagine my delight as he looked like scoring comfortably, only to be surpassed by horror as it looked like he might even run out. My stomach was literally churning and it was with a sense of disbelief that I watched him incredibly straighten up and run on to collar Whisper by the old fashioned Rab C Nesbitt “Baw Hair”

Incredible and for once I was on the right side of the drama.

Might Bite answered a lot of doubters today and well done to him for that.

As I had said coming in, I thought Alpha Des Obeaux was too short and Acapella Bourgeois looked a classic big margin fluke winner on very different ground last time.

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

Very impressive, very quirky. Just needs headgear for concentration.

I am really happy that Might Bite won, I was confident about this horse despite lots of controversy regarding him. [”Scorpion”, ”has to much speed”, ”won’t stay up the hill”, ”one of the biggest lays of the festival”] Well, I am very glad that ”one of the biggest lays of the festival” turned into on of the greatest performances at this festival.

Amazing from Might Bite in so many ways.

As the performance of Whisper and the early placement of the ‘good’ jockeys shows, Loughran, de Boinville and Cooper went scorching off. The other two front-runners (both useful animals) were beaten 18 and 61 lengths, which just goes to show what an immense performance this was from Might Bite. Then you think of the blunder at the last and the rest of his shenanigans. He’s a 180 horse if he puts it all together.

My theory is that cheekpieces are all he needs. He’s genuine enough but obviously a very skittish horse who struggles with his concentration. Maybe whack on a noseband to reduce the field of vision even further. I don’t think he’d need anything more extreme than that. Nicky Henderson is not usually a trainer who likes using headgear but I hope he swallows his pride. I wouldn’t be backing Might Bite antepost for Gold Cups or King Georges because these nervy types are especially prone to silly injuries (see Coneygree) but he’s a top notch prospect.

Yet again Davy Russell rode an outstanding race on Whisper, giving him the optimum ride for the situation. There is no scope for improvement though. Bellshill was also given a good ride but just doesn’t stay 3m as well as the first two. After a bad Cheltenham prep, he’ll probably improve at Aintree and Punchestown. He joins Cloudy Dream on my early Ryanair shortlist.

After another BBV, Alpha Des Obeaux looks goosed. Unless blood vessel guru Kerry Lee gets hold of him, it looks like the end of the line.
