Depending on how Henderson’s horses coming back from injury fare, and there a fair few of them, if they perform ok then I’ll be having a good bet on Beat That for the RSA (25’S at the moment).
Apparently last season he still hadn’t filled out into what they expect to be an impressive frame, and one or two hiccups meant he was put away before the world hurdle. (Who knows what they were).
Given what he beat over hurdles the sky is the limit for him over fences. They think he was a chaser in the making and anything he did over hurdles was a bonus. He beat Champagne West by 10 lengths, Cole Harden (world hurdle winner) 4 lengths and then Don Poli (easy winner of last years RSA) in winning 2 grade 1’s over hurdles.
If he comes back sound and gets anywhere near that form over fences, then 25/1 looks a very attractive proposition to me.
A bit early but roll on Cheltenham!October 14, 2015 at 14:57 #1217600I too like Beat That as a horse (actually spewed a few quid on him for the World Hurdle last year), but you’re brave if you’re:
a. Taking Henderson’s waffle as gospel
b. Trusting him to bring one back to formOctober 14, 2015 at 16:09 #1217609They are the two doubts, hence holding fire until one or two others come out first….but if the string seems in good order and his waffle errs in the right direction then it might be worth a punt.
October 25, 2015 at 10:27 #1218923Used to be one of my most profitable races of the season, but went well of the boil the last couple of years.
No doubt I’ll spend the winter, trying to work out which one of the Giggs horses will head here, always hard to predict and they look like having the usual strong team.
Of the rest, Kilultagh Vic, and Ballyalton are of interest, and I’m hoping my old friend Seeyouatmidnight takes to the larger obstacles. I’m definitely considering them.
However, it’s a horse who hit the deck at Cheltenham on Friday who’s my number one hope at the moment, Vintage Vinnie. Made a bad mistake before he came down, but I reckon had his jumping been slicker he’d have won easy, and looking at the way he travelled, I think jumping permitting, he looks perfect for this.
October 27, 2015 at 18:30 #1219357No More Heroes was at times a clumsy hurdler but looks to have taken to fences well. There is enormous room for improvement in this horse as he moves from hurdles to fences and it’s no surprise to see him now clear favourite for the RSA. He and Alpha Des Obeaux are the two staying novice chasers I’m mot looking forward to. Mouse’s horse is a bit of a slow burner and has ran well over hurdles but looks like he wants at least three miles to be seen at his best, while Elliott’s has always looked a potential Gold Cup animal. Seeing these animals tackle fences is one of the most exciting things about jumps racing.
October 29, 2015 at 13:12 #1219486I have a feeling the horse might be in the Henderson yard but not Beat That.
Going to be very competitive though and potentially a better race than last season.

No, i think he’ll be better at shorter trips. There are a few horses like Clean Sheet, Lessons In Milan, Call The Cops who could be live contenders for the RSA, which unlike the Arkle is not often won by the highest rated hurdler.
Theinval could be another – i didn’t expect him to win yesterday because he doesn’t run well fresh but he’s bred to stay.
Different Gravey might emulate the Hughes’ staying chaser Hadrian’s Approach and run well in an RSANovember 12, 2015 at 19:42 #1221382A race I love and one that has been very lucky for me and this seasons winner is easy to find…..AP said he was the horse he would most miss not riding and that he was a future Gold Cup horse,if thats the case then More of that should use tomorrows Cheltenham trial as a stepping stone to winning the RSA,just like ‘Albertas Run’ did back in 2008 winning in November before striking Gold at the festival in March.I tried to get a £100 e/w on with Ladbrokes at 12/1 but would only accomodate a maximum return of £2k so I’ve had £50 e/w at 14/1 with BetFred and £50 e/w at 12/1 with Ladbrokes.
December 29, 2015 at 15:29 #1227570No more heroes perfect again. His jumping is straight and very quick. Very pleasing performance and is the one to beat at Cheltenham. This could be a cracker if more of that, pont alexandre etc show up.
December 29, 2015 at 15:34 #1227572Wasn’t there talk of more of that possibly going the GC route? No More Heroes looked a machine again today.

There was talk of that yes.
December 29, 2015 at 17:55 #1227585He wouldn’t be a forlorn hope in the Gold Cup either in my view. I think if he goes RSA though he will win it.
December 29, 2015 at 22:26 #1227620Sky’s the limit for this horse No More Heroes. Jumps, stays and looks to have bags of class. I couldn’t oppose him in the RSA.
December 29, 2015 at 23:48 #1227628More of That will certainly give him a race mind you. Could be a decent renewal of everyone gets there safe
December 30, 2015 at 12:57 #1227674No doubt More of That is a danger, particuarlly with his record of 4-4 at prestbury park.
January 8, 2016 at 22:17 #1228898I’ve had a whole five pound coin on No More Heroes to win this and next years Gold Cup at 33’s with skybet
