To anyone who has seen these in operation, can I ask how and where the bets are taken?

They are taken on-course using what used to be the old Tote facilities.
Indeed they were even branded to look like the Tote

Surely this is ‘trading off’ isn’t it? People generally bet with The Tote because it offers a certain reassurance to the novice and/or inexperienced punter. This SP service is not the same thing (although I suppose the subtle difference would go unnoticed to most of it’s users).

It will be interesting to see what "look" Chester adopt this year now the Tote has changed its branding.
I have to admit I was surprised when I saw the branding at Chester last year, which is why I took the photograph and passed comment at the time.
I suppose Chester would argue their name is prominent on the display but the colouring was very similar, I did a double take myself when I saw it.
