April 16, 2011 at 16:43 #350591Another sad loss … RIP Regal Heights.
April 16, 2011 at 17:46 #350602Was made to finish the race even though he was tailed off. Another case of a horse not been PU’d when he should have been?

He looked alright until a pretty late stage i thought? Wasn’t miles away, and really wasn’t given a very hard ride I didn’t think?
I guess it’s easy to pull apart what/why/how, but doesn’t bring the trainers, owners and grooms their horse back.
Really lovely looking lad. RIP
April 16, 2011 at 23:05 #350665Yes, I agree, Emmy; my heart sank when I read the words ‘tailed off’, but I just watched the replay and he didn’t look out on his feet at the end of the race. Terrible end to what had seemed to be a disaster free race.

I just watched it back too, and bar a few slaps on the shoulder to try and get him to meet his last fence well, as he’d been getting pretty close to a few as he went round he was just left to finish in his own time.
I thought the same watching it first time round, thank god this is going well after last week. Spoke too soon it seemed.
April 17, 2011 at 21:30 #350835Terrible news

Forum member jetleo1111 was very attached to Regal Heights, kept backing him religiously for the past year or two! I’m sure Leo won’t mind me saying that he put a framed picture of the horse on his desk after his final victory at Newbury.
RIP
April 18, 2011 at 20:42 #351020OMG, I never realised the Scottish National had claimed 2 victims.
Poor Regal Heights. RIP
And now another horse (Robello) has collapsed and died today at Towcester. Is the the unseasonably warm weather and very fast ground? Races on this ground do seem to be run at a hell of a pace.

I believe it was Exeter…. also another horse – Cloud Nine – in the HC at Exeter has been lost according to the jumping for fun discussion forum?
