Racing Post website virtually ground to a halt, presumably due to extra traffic for the Grand National. Had to use the BHA site for Sunday ratings, but it’s good practice. Problem comes when there’s Irish form involved as I have to keep the IHRB site open at the same time…

Musselburgh hosts the first of this year’s Sunday Series meetings. Competitive racing from Class 5 up to Class 2 and I’ve rated all the handicaps bar the 3yo race at 5.45 which has very little handicap form to work from. Fitness considerations certainly have an influence on selections as a fair few are returning from the ‘winter holiday’.

I found a problem with the handicap figures on the Racing Post. They missed an upload of the figures for the last full week of March, which I fathomed but meant I’ve been cross-referencing against the BHA database which takes a bit longer.

Another busy day on Friday as the All-Weather finale takes centre stage. Tribal Star is well clear in the staying handicap at Newcastle having finished second in Ireland to a horse that has since improved 20lbs. The latter’s figure was gained no the turf, but the IHRB handicapper sdeems to have carried the figure to all disciplines so on that basis Tribal Star shows thta in his figure.
