King George? lol
November 19, 2018 at 13:55 #1381053More chance of me turning up in the King George alongside Might Bite
November 19, 2018 at 15:24 #1381061Can’t see Altior running in the King George unless Might Bite doesn’t make it there or badly disappoints this weekend.
Value Is EverythingNovember 20, 2018 at 15:36 #1381143Henderson has previously floated the possibility of trying the Patricia Pugh-owned Altior over further, with the 32Red-backed King George at Kempton on December 26 one option, but that seems far from likely following an excellent gallop.
He added: “If you see him go at home he is so much quicker than anything else at the place so I just can’t see him as a three-miler. He’d get two and a half yes, but I would genuinely rather run him in the King’s Stand than go to Kempton.”
November 22, 2018 at 11:58 #1386662Hendo is gagging to run Altior over further, but don’t think he will.
I had a few quid each way on Sceau Royal at 25s for the QMCC before the race.
Altior is in a different parish, but March is a long way off!
November 22, 2018 at 17:32 #1386681What gives you that idea? He keeps saying how fast the horse is and is latest quotes look like he is very much against the idea.
Hes mentioned the possibility of stepping up before as people keep asking him about it but really whats the point?
No point going for a Ryanair when you are the best in the business over 2m. Gold cup – 3m2f is a totally different test and not one hes sure to relish.November 23, 2018 at 19:18 #1386780Altior seems tor get better the further he goes; I’d love to see him given his chance at 3 miles. The 2-mile champion is a great title, but the GC is much more prestigious. Could say the same about e.g Moscow Flyer; supreme over 2 miles in a great era, easily stayed 20 furlongs.
November 24, 2018 at 11:26 #1386904He’d be fascinating in a King George; maybe next year
He tends to hit a flat spot at Cheltenham and I think it’s due to the dip before the home straight and that others cope with it better.
Then he sees the hill and demolishes it.
November 25, 2018 at 19:23 #1387147Have a look at the way Altior came home in The Supreme. A ‘normal’ horse, even a top class one does not quicken off a pace like that. What we saw there was a superstar, a horse winning because he was brilliant rather than because of the trip. Offered the choice of ‘one thing to see before you die’, mine, sadly, would be to see Altior contest a Gold Cup
December 27, 2018 at 19:09 #1390422Go watch a rerun of todays 1-15 at Leopardstown. Footpad travelled well, jumped well, cruised into the lead 2 out, led over the last full of running and somehow got beat half a length by Simply Ned. Now take Simply Ned out of the equation and Footpad has run out a fascile winner in a race winning time of 4m 2.50s (fast by 3.50s)
Incredibly Footpad’s price for this race has been pushed out to as big as 10/1. Gotta be one of the best each way steals of the festival.
December 27, 2018 at 20:24 #1390428I came on here to post similar Sea Pigeon
Only Mullins will know exactly how fit he had Footpad but if he was anywhere back to near 100% you’d have to worry about him staying in the RyanairCharles Darwin to conquer the World
December 27, 2018 at 21:07 #1390434I am not sure whether you are saying Footpad wasn’t fully wound up so will improve and be able to compete with ALTIOR or not Sea Pigeon but if you are then I must disagree strongly !!
ALTIOR just eats the Cheltenham hill and IMO nothing will get close at Cheltenham . If he stays fit and healthy he wins simple as!
December 27, 2018 at 21:14 #1390435duplicate…

Charles Darwin to conquer the World
December 27, 2018 at 21:14 #1390436Nothing beats Altior here, unless the horse is unwell or has a mishap
Footpad is stuck between a rock and a hard place as he is up against it with Altior and emptied quick today which would been question marks regard stamina for a ryanair once the Gold Cup dropouts enter that equation. The only saving grace maybe if Mullins left plenty of work on with himCharles Darwin to conquer the World
December 27, 2018 at 21:19 #1390437Aye, Nathan. Been majestic on his last two runs and looks better than ever.
December 27, 2018 at 21:38 #1390438Raymo
I think Sea Pigeon (correct me if I’m wrong) is saying the place part of the 10/1 on Footpad is huge
plenty in the market that won’t be turning up here.Charles Darwin to conquer the World
December 27, 2018 at 22:57 #1390469The danger with the Mullins horses is that you could back Footpad for this and he could go JLT and Min could drop back to 2 miles. Or they could both swerve Altior altogether and go JLT.
