I started the thread some time ago and believe the extra 2 lbs Found gets from Almanzor will be enough for her here.
I think the worst case result would mean i take my Mrs. out for a decent meal since i have been in such a great position and hedged out a bit the last few days.
It won’t stop me having a combi TC on my 3 though
Good luck everyone and may the best horse win
October 13, 2016 at 23:24 #1266937I am with you on this one GT .
I have backed Jack Hobbs at 14/1 and will have a saver on the day on one of the big two probably Almanzour
October 14, 2016 at 20:06 #1267044Am going to take a chance here with Racing History who was 4th last year after a short season of massive improvement. Obviously had his issues since, but worth risking at around 33s.
October 15, 2016 at 00:43 #1267094Almanzour obviously ran a brilliant race in the Irish Champion – a race where many Group 1 winners took part – but did get the race run perfectly. Dropped out the back of the TV in an overly strongly run race tht suited such tactics, trouble in running for those in mid-div, came wide in to the straight on what may have been faster ground. Almanzour is drawn 1 on the inside tomorrow and will probably need to come from last to first once more. Easy enough in a truly run race… will it be? Midterm is the only one who’s made the running of late, but that was in a small field and dawdled. Not sure what the merit of his race in France is. Despite getting a soft lead the Japanese horse picked him up fairly easily. Maverick Wave is probably in here to make the running for Jack Hobbs and Racing History, but former went off too fast last year and imo it will favour Godolphin not to make a searching test this time – they don’t want a pace to suit the two with the best form. Almanzour usually dropped out and Found either held up or mid-div would both love a fast pace. Prominent position may be advantageous and Jack Hobbs usually tracks pace. Can see them going fairly steady before Buick kicks for home rounding the turn. JH has had a pelvic injury, but there are easier races to go for if needing the run and stable is in fine form of late – loads of fit horses to judge against. 14/1 is too big to ignore. Suspect last year’s winner Fascinating Rock (who’s tactically fairly versatile) will race nearer the front than back. The Grey Gatsby is held up and out of form anyway. Gabriel held up and outclassed. My Dream Boat held up, beat Found at Royal Ascot but the mare is far better at this time of year. Cox horse shouldn’t be good enough and may not quite be soft enough either. Racing History raced mid-div when 4th in this last year and comes from a yard bang in form, trouble is hasn’t run since. If it is a truly run affair it will suit the forgotten horse, US Army Ranger. Considering it was only the third race of his life did wonderfully well to finish runner-up in the Derby and more improvement seemed certain. Missed a lot of important races after Epsom and Coolmore have probably struggled to get him fit. I expected the breeders Cup Turf to be his main objective, fact he’s been thrown in here suggests to me he’s going better at home. Way he made up ground from Tattenham Corner suggests 10f should be within his range. Am a little concerned he’s too much of a gent, possibly perfomed an “after you Sir” in both Chester Vase and Derby. But at 20/1 worth taking a chance. Found is 2 lbs better off with Almanzour, but that is because of natural progression of a 3 year old at this time of year. Effectively they are the same weight for age and sex terms as in Ireland. That said, Found seems to be thriving and 5/2 is very fair imo.
My 100% Book:
FOUND 85/40, Almanzour 85/40, Fascinating Rock 13/2, JACK HOBBS 10/1, US ARMY RANGER 15/1, Midterm 33/1, Racing History 50/1, My Dream Boat 50/1, The Grey Gatsby 132/1, Gabrial 500/1, Maverick Wave 2000/1Almanzour’s particularly poor price making a few others value imo. Wouldn’t put anyone off laying the French horse at around 13/8.
I’ve backed Jack Hobbs @ 14/1, US Army Ranger 20/1 and Found @ 5/2 with a saver on Fascinating Rock 15/2.Value Is EverythingOctober 15, 2016 at 01:05 #1267099As in the Arc Ginger we agree that FOUND should win the Champion Stakes later today.
Unusually for me I took 10/1 a while back when it was uncertain if she would run in this or not.
She is in such great form, owes me nothing and is my only bet in the race.. JacThings turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...October 15, 2016 at 05:47 #1267113The betting certainly looks top heavy at the moment. If i was playing today Fascinating Rock E/W @ 15/2 looks the stand out bet to me by miles.
Best of luck everyone

Good points Ginger, i must add that his last run may not look that bad by the time this race starts. A few people wrote him off but he ran great against Zhukova looking like he would come on a fair bit for that.
Early days still with him, but you could see him being a bit like Highland Reel next year if kept in training.
October 15, 2016 at 12:22 #1267232USAR still needs to prove (to me, at least) that he has the heart for it in a finish
October 15, 2016 at 15:48 #1267321place Laid Almazour @ 3 to 1 on
October 15, 2016 at 15:57 #1267325Top class performance from the winner. Outstanding. And they’ve just said that he stays in training next season!
October 15, 2016 at 15:59 #1267327Magnificent performance which must give hope to those breeders who can’t afford a Galileo or a Frankel
October 15, 2016 at 16:01 #1267329Impressive from Almanzour. Jack Hobbs had a tardy start and was in a bit of a bumping mach at
the back, but I’m under no illusions, he wouldn’t beaten Almanzour. He did well to come through
for 3rd, I’m more that happy with the 14/1 E/W with him.October 15, 2016 at 16:12 #1267332Punters are paid out, but is there a chance Almanzour’s connections might lose it yet?
What happened in the stables sounds suspicious.
Value Is EverythingOctober 15, 2016 at 16:19 #1267333Fitting of invisible after-burners, perhaps? If it was a substance, I’d like some of it. Farther he went, farther he went clear and connections must surely try the Arc next year?
October 15, 2016 at 20:53 #1267418Some amazing races coming up in the second half of this season
Backed the French Derby winner Almanzor for this E/W @25’s
Great bit of foresight Botchy, well done
I remember backing Cirrus des Aigles a few years back at 25/1. Saw his odds plummet to fav and get beat close to the line by Faarh.Blackbeard to conquer the World
October 15, 2016 at 20:57 #1267419Inspired punting, Botchy. Well done.
October 16, 2016 at 18:42 #1267516Thanks guys, doubt i will do it again. But no doubt i will keep having a go
