Unless one or more of Karl Burke’s 5 runners tomorrow run well – I’ll be opposing Quiet Reflection in this. Need some evidence the stable is over its recent poor run of form.
John Gosden – on the other hand – is in excellent form and Shalaa should run well as long as he doesn’t bounce. Won with far more in hand than winning distance suggests on belated return after a pelvic injury. Shalaa was progressive at two and probably has more improvement in him. Apart from the french horse Signs Of Blessing there doesn’t look to be much pace, Shalaa usually races prominently so could get a positional advantage. 11/2 worth taking imo.
Value Is EverythingOctober 13, 2016 at 21:31 #1266926well guys you will be pleased to know i didant back limato. as you have been saying how can you. as mr candy is a very risky proposition for any early punts with limato
you have to wait for the ground and the day of the race. so no value to be had guysOctober 13, 2016 at 21:45 #1266928i think im going to take a chance with BRANDO EW AT 16/1 as he likes good to soft and 6 fur. that was a fantastic run in the ayr gold cup of top weight
got beat by mecca,s over 5 twice but 6 fur is a diff ball game for the 2 horses. lets hope ah guysOctober 14, 2016 at 00:37 #1266942i think im going to take a chance with BRANDO EW AT 16/1 as he likes good to soft and 6 fur. that was a fantastic run in the ayr gold cup of top weight

4/1 Shalaa, 9/2 Quiet Reflection, 6/1 Twilight Son, 8/1 The Tin Man, 9/1 Brando, 10/1 Mecca’s Angel, 12/1 Librisa Breeze, 14/1 Signs Of Blessing, 100/1 Donjuan Triumphant, 100/1 Growl, 400/1 Mr Lupton, 400/1 Don’t Touch, 500/1 Mobsta, 800/1 Jack Dexter.
Taken 11/2 Shalaa, 15/2 Twilight Son and 16/1 Brando.

You cant totally agree with ‘Lionroars’ Ginge as you have backed 2 others!
I on the other hand have been reading this thread for the past week waiting to post the winner but ‘Lions’ beaten me to it.Everyones concentrating on the proven Group winners for this and particularly the front 2 in the market but I have long said an Ayr Gold Cup winner can be a Group 1 winner as ‘Continent’,Bahamian Pirate’ and ‘Regal Parade’ of Dandys all went on to prove.Brando fits right in there with those sorts, a progressive 4yo who carried Top weight to glory at Ayr,his Wokingham run and the time he clocked reads very well and at 14/1 he is massively over-priced.I believe like old Ginge he should be single figures and cant see him out the 3.I took Bet 365’s 14/1 this morning to £50 e/w and have done exactly the same tonight, others realise he is a player and have started to shorten his odds into 10’s and 12’s,he’ll be well backed tomorrow and he’s one who wont care what the weather does.October 14, 2016 at 17:31 #1267009You cant totally agree with ‘Lionroars’ Ginge as you have backed 2 others!
I can totally agree that Brando is excellent value, Gord. Even if I rate two others (as can be seen above) value too.
No matter, let’s shout it home.
Suspect Tom Segal won’t see this value go unbacked/untipped either.Value Is EverythingOctober 14, 2016 at 17:58 #1267012<blockquote

Late congratulations to all who got the Arc winner, I was terribly wrong with the yellow dotted horse, but at least I didn’t back him. I also had a successful weekend thanks to Marsha, she’s a four legged goddess!
But now looking ahead:
I would assess it a two horse race between Quiet Reflection and Limato, but would Limato even run if it rains?
I know that this Shalaa has returned, her comeback race was quite impressive, but I wouldn’t rate her good enough to be a real danger. What do you think?
I have another question: 7/2 for Quiet Reflection is quite low, would it be better to wait for the day of the race?
Cheers and good night, HBHi Hein .. Shalaa is a colt and as you might guess I rate him quite highly, have followed him every race he has run and he never disappoints, seems to find another gear and judging by his comeback race after injury he has improved a lot. I’m really hoping that he will show the field a lightning turn of foot and win this convincingly he really deserves it.
I think Quiet Reflection deserves her 7/2 quote and may go off shorter, she has won 5 Group races in the last year and should be the one giving Shalaa a race for his money.
Enjoy the race really looking forward to this one.

JacQuiet Reflection has been weak in the markets in the last couple of days. I laid a bit of 3/1 yesterday. Needs to buck the trend of Burke yard’s poor form. This late in the season, a drop in stable form is difficult to escape. Gosden’s in cracking form Jac.
Value Is EverythingOctober 15, 2016 at 09:03 #1267138Burke couldn’t train a cat to catch a mouse and Dougie couldn’t ride a bike with stabilizers
It’s all about looking after the machine, Burke only has eyes for one horse now reflect quietly will you ginge.Gaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
October 15, 2016 at 09:28 #1267155Hi Jack, I know he’s a colt, it was just a mistype.
I am similarly convinced of Quiet Reflection as you are of Shalaa, enjoy the race too.
I will only enjoy it with the right outcome..
Thank you, Nathan, you’ve expressed that greatly.
Quiet Reflection is Burke’s sole class horse, and I don’t think it matters too much
what his lower level horses did recently.
I see Burke similar to Mr. Candy:
If you consider Candy’s stable form, you could have never backed Limato..October 15, 2016 at 09:41 #1267160Don’t take my word for it hein bollow.
I’m just a free spirit.
But I’m sure Quiet Reflection gets the last Rolo, Polo mint and the best hay
Win or lose She has been fantastic this season, don’t forget to vote her flat horse of the yearGaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
October 15, 2016 at 10:19 #1267178Don’t worry, Nathan.
I won’t make you reliable for the result:-).
I am also very positive on her, and I hope Dougie finds a good position again.
Yeah, she really deserves this title, and I will vote for her.October 15, 2016 at 10:34 #1267186I think Quiet Reflection deserves her 7/2 quote and may go off shorter, she has won 5 Group races in the last year and should be the one giving Shalaa a race for his money.

Not saying Quiet Reflection can’t win. Yes, it is possible the filly will be unaffected by the drop in form. Henry Candy won the Jubilee with Twilight Son when on a similar run and I remember Paul Cole keeping Mr Dinos in an isolation box before his Ascot Gold Cup. However, when a yard is doing as badly as Burke it has to be represented in odds. Being a greater chance of Quiet Reflection running poorly than there would be if her trainer were in good form. Even the Queen catches a cold now and again when those around her are inflicted.
Jac said “I think Quiet Reflection deserves her 7/2 quote and may go off shorter”. Am saying I very much doubt she will go off shorter than 7/2 and if you fancy Quiet Reflection it may be advisable not to take 7/2 and wait.
The Oddschecker row is now all pink, every bookmaker lengthening and now 9/2.
Value Is EverythingOctober 15, 2016 at 12:19 #1267231FWIW in Oisin’s Q&A on sportinglife.com (a few days old now) he was asked for his best bet today:
It’s a phenomenal day of racing to be part of and we may well have the best horse in the world taking part in Almanzor, as well as some other brilliant clashes. We’ll see Limato, Quiet Reflection and Shalaa in the Sprint, a clash between the best of the generations in the QEII and maybe even an Arc-placed horse in the Long Distance Cup, so you really can’t knock the quality of the racing.
If I was to name one horse I’d say Shalaa in the British Champions Series Sprint. It’s obviously a very tough race, but I thought he looked burly in the paddock before he won at Ascot the other day and yet he still managed to win nicely on his first start for more than a year. He’s got winning form on soft ground but to me he looks like a real top-of-the-ground horse from his action and if it comes up good on the day, I’d fancy him to win.
I rarely pay attention to any jockey tips but I thought it an interesting response given his opinion of Almanzor and the fact that he has no obvious association with Shalaa.
October 15, 2016 at 14:09 #1267286That was terrible and extremely disappointing for me,
she was just jogging around
