Not a big fan of a thread covering a whole festival, but Punchestown is the one where it works quite well.
Few entries out now, including Gold Cup, and Champion Hurdle.
Gold Cup

Allaho and Clan Des Obeaux will understandably be popular, but the one I’ll definitely bet is Janidil. There’s obviously concerns over his stamina, but I think given right conditions, he could get involved. I’ll definitely bet him Antepost. I’d just like better than 8’s
If Ronald Pump doesn’t go to Fairyhouse, he’ll be my annual outsider selection who doesn’t get involved.
Champion Hurdle
It would be great to see Constitution Hill travel over. Outstanding in The Supreme, and for many, he was by far the most impressive winner of the meeting. Goes without saying that he looks a Champion Hurdle Winner already. I hope does go.
I bet one a couple of months back when a few firms priced up early, and took the 50’s EW on Saint Roi. He’s not in the same league obviously as the market principles, but I thought he ran a solid race at Cheltenham. I’m happy with him this season, even though he’s hardly set the world alight, and he’s certainly been more promising than last season, when he was my early fancy for The Champion Hurdle

April 11, 2022 at 22:44 #1593116Really hope allaho runs
They won’t see which way he went
April 11, 2022 at 22:55 #1593119Constitution Hill – I haven’t been this excited since I realised I had enough empties for a free bottle of dandelion & burdock as a child (oh, alright, last week).
This meeting revolves around one horse!

Oh wait maybe honeysuckle? Ah surely you dont meant CH lol, atleast we wont need to wait to long to put to rest the “frankel of the jumps” chatter, surely the worst shout since this forum began from ole gingey, it still makes me laugh when it pops into my head
April 11, 2022 at 23:09 #1593123Honeysuckle will be some value price if Henderson doesn’t soil his Gucci y-fronts.
BUY THE SUN
April 11, 2022 at 23:17 #1593128I have always found processed meat easy to ignore.
TTC, however, invariably demands a response.
I have every confidence in the Master of Seven Barrows, sir!
And if Nicky (note the thoroughly inappropriate first name terms usage) decides it’s best Constitution Hill doesn’t see another living creature – let alone race against it – between now and next March, then Nicky knows best!

BUY THE SUN
April 11, 2022 at 23:34 #1593134My work here is done.
Though not quite.
Though he’s a lovely big horse, I do feel a few people – including Timeform – are getting away about Galopin Des Champs.
He was in the process of beating an injured horse who hates chasing in indifferent time at Cheltenham and his final-fence fall wouldn’t be the sole jumping error in his career so far either.

Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
April 12, 2022 at 07:32 #1593156Galopin Des Champs is a lovely prospect, but he hasn’t yet proved himself for me the way Constitution Hill did in the Supreme.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"April 12, 2022 at 07:37 #1593157Allaho has won over 3m over hurdles but IMO is a far better horse bowling along in front over circa 2m4f.
I can see why they might run him – if you don’t buy a ticket you can’t win a prize – but it seems an end-of-season afterthought to me.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"April 12, 2022 at 08:56 #1593163Do they still show Irish racing on ATR for free? It’s @ 16 years since I last went to Punchestown ( as if I didn’t feel old enough as it is). I still think if the place when I see gorse flowering. I’d love to go again. Was it Rebecca Curtis that had a shock winner there years ago? I just remember an English ( or should I say Welsh?) lady trainer that I knew very little about winning a race there.
April 12, 2022 at 09:38 #1593167No, it has been behind RTV’s pay wall since 2019.
April 12, 2022 at 09:42 #1593169How likely is CH to run against honeyuskcle with the owner really wanting to go there and the 100k bonus for an English winner, maybe 75% chance?
April 12, 2022 at 10:45 #1593175It’s interesting.
I suspect Nicky Henderson would like to give the horse the lightest possible campaign between now and the Champion Hurdle next March.
And for all his critics, his tally of Cheltenham Festival winners is surely very impressive.
But I sense an aggressive ambition in the owner.
If so, whose will will prevail?

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"April 12, 2022 at 10:49 #15931763 miles round punchestown should be easily within Allahos range imo Ian
I just hope they don’t change tactics and use his jumping to put the others under pressure
He will surely run as the only other option is over 2 miles and he simply isn’t fast enough to beat energumene or chacun
April 12, 2022 at 10:59 #1593178I do agree he is a horse who is happiest and at his most effective out in front, putting others to the sword.
But he hasn’t led from the start in any of his races at 3m so far, including when 20 lengths fourth to A Plus Tard in December 2020 on his most recent attempt.
I think he will run as the alternative is just too rough him off for the summer, but I won’t be backing him.
Constitution Hill, Energumene, Galopin Des Champs, The Nice Guy, Facile Vega and Gentleman Du Mee would all have better favourite’s chances if they ran IMO.
