CAS the gold cup always leaves a mark , be interesting to see if it does so on APT going forward …Bobby that run today prob sees Galvin take another step towards Aintree

Indo has been poor all year

Gold Cup he stopped to a standstill, nothing like the way he powered up the hill the year before

Irish gold Cup again he stopped to a standstill almost getting passed by a non stayer in janidil

    King George was horrendous

Down royal ok for a first run

You just have to assume between the bartlett, punchestown 3 mile hurdle, the rsa, the gold Cup he’s been to the well too many times

A plus tards monster rating looks a little dubious to me on what we’ve seen before and since

Agree with all the above about Minella Indo. The warning signs were there with his weak finishing effort at Cheltenham.

Also agree about APT. He had a hard race, maybe a harder race than was necessary. Did Rachael really need to win by so far? That must have required a huge effort.

I would not be rushing to back him at a short price first time out next season.

Especially if it’s soft ground at Haydock.

I drew a blank today apart from Allaho, and back to work tomorrow so just a Gentleman de Mee/Klassical Dream/James’ Gate treble will do.

Thanks ben, one to keep an eye on wherever he goes, i love how hes apparantly so lazy at home, but can dig in like that on track, tremendous what hes achieved this season, the AB isnt the most profound race for a winner to back it up from, but he looks a cut above

Looking at this string for next season, ill need to study through who wont go chasing, at this stage he looks overloaded with novice chasers in every division

Ben, also happy with The Nice Guy, and I’ll certainly be looking forward to seeing him chasing.

Yeah HDLG, I’m convinced it’ll be Aintree for Galvin next year, and he’s got to be a Cross Country possible too.

No complications today, and looking to have one selection in five of the races.

The opener is a typical tricky Punchestown handicap, and I’m with Powersbomb. Seemed to benefit from his previous run when last seen, and I think that although a 12yo, he can get involved here at a price. He’s on a fair mark, and was in good form this time last year. I’ve taken 50’s EW seven places. I’d happily top that up if he went bigger.

Grange Walk is my idea of the winner in the next, but I’ll happily leave him unless he drifts dramatically.

Been giving a good mention to Thedevilscoachman for a while now, and he’s a straightforward selection in the big one for me, while another JP Runner, A Great View looks way overpriced in the 1800

Fiveaftermidnight and Neverushacon are two proper favourites, and regulars of mine. I’d expect a good run for my money from the pair of them.

    1540 – Powersbomb 50’s EW 7pls
    1650 – Neverushacon 6’s
    1800 – A Great View EW 6pls
    1910 – Fiveaftermidnight EW 4pls

Well yes; I know it’s the ‘Blue Riband of Chasing’ and is blasphemy, but the King George is a better race. Some real plodders have won a Gold Cup…..The classy horses tend to win the King George.

Minella Indo hasn’t looked happy all season. Older, wiser and basically not enjoying it anymore is a possibility. He won the GC with ease so can’t have him being finished by that race. I’m tempted to give him one more chance next year given the stable form has been atrocious all season. He’ll only be 10. If i was HDB i’d be holding a full-scale investigation over the summer and a deep clean of the stables as something is surely going on.

One bet today – Magic Daze for HDB

Stayers – sticking with an old favourite of mine, Paisley Park

Best of luck to all today :good:

Really keen on Alpha Male in the opener Friday, but way too short for me.

In the 1615, I’ve taken a chance on the Willie Mullins trained Grand Bornand. Jumping needs to improve, but been watching him for a while, and on handicap debut, gave him a real chance of making the frame.

In The Champion Hurdle Honeysuckle remains a fantastic horse, and will be extremely difficult to beat, but as mentioned earlier, I’m with Saint Roi Antepost, and I’d be delighted if he made the frame.

Kilcruit has been a bit of a disappointment this term, but I thought 6’s way too big.

I’ll probably bet in the later races too, but the only other one I’ve bet so far is Dorking Cock in The Hunters. I was surprised at 14’s, and I’d happily top that up if he went out some more

    1615 Grand Bornand 25’s EW 5pls
    1725 Saint Roi 50’s EW 3pls
    1800 Kilcruit 6’s
    1835 Dorking Cock 14’s EW

Although my punting at Punchestown has been ‘light’ this week, 1 or 2 bets/day, i’ve scored a blank.
Therefore, i’ll continue with minimal bets for Friday.

One early bet on Gabbys Cross, in the 4.15.
