Darren your
Conduct
is a very well bred 3yo,i see he"s been gelded but that wouldn"t put me off him tomorrow,he looks like he"s crying out for 11/2m and it wouldn"t surprise me to see a November handicap entry if he wins against his elders tomorrow,he will have to win with authority mind as he really wants to be in the mid 90"s to be competitive in the years last big handicap! I watch Highclere horses closely as i like the type of horse they purchase, big strong sorts with plenty scope! Good luck!
I have backedWorkforce
at 44 and 42 on the machine before the Derby and have 16/1 12/1 and 10/1! I have also backed Youmzain at 26 as i back him every year and i have covered all bets with Fame and Glory at 23"s and 7/1 for a small profit!
September 27, 2010 at 20:42 #319760I got 4/1 now as low as 5/2 dont see that often a horse get backed a night before the race.Could be a bit special.
September 29, 2010 at 22:33 #320111Cheers Grimes,TAPK is considering a TV appearance on either Racing UK or Channel 4"s Morning line,i have sent quotes from TRF i have written and as you know some of them are legendary!I would like the Morning Line if Jim Mcgrath,John Francome and John McCririck were on with Nick Luck hosting as all 4 are the most knowledgeable in their fields,Form,Horses, betting and presenting! Nick knows of me and the intro would be "Our very special guest this week is Royalty and his knowledge of Ante-Post betting is legendary,he writes for "The Racing Forum" and was the 1st person to put up
Workforce
for this years Derby before he even made his seasonal debut, gasps from hangers on! Its TAPK, "The Ante-Post King",i then make my entrance to Eye of the Tiger by Survivor and seat myself in my special throne before cross examination begins!

Sounds a bit like a Coronation, TAPK… Will you be repairing to Westminster Abbey, immediately after, for the full enthronement, anointing, etc?
Oh… and will there be any souvenir plates or mugs (unfortunate word) for us to remember the occasion by? I understand, in a giddy access of modesty, you vetoed street parties up and own the land, as a tad excessive? I think we should be told, because so many are clearly disappointed. Maybe sometimes it’s best to swallow your humility for the greater good, do you think?.
September 30, 2010 at 20:42 #320217The only thing i will be swallowing Grimes is a bottle of RD if i show a profit over the weekend!
Tomorrow i"m afraid next years 1000gns filly wont be running in the Cheveley Park but whatever wins will go fav,Hooray would have been my selection on fast ground now and i know Hayley holds Margot did in the highest regard,it should be a fantastic race and if the ground remains on the soft side i cant go pastKhor Sheed
,she is a very scopey filly who will dig in a battle,7f would be her ideal trip but any more rain will help,i have had £50 e/w at 6/1.

Khor Sheed’s two defeats have come on ground with ‘soft’ in the official description and she may not appreciate being drawn on the outside in stall one.
I’d place-lay her if anything.
Ed Dunlop rarely has first-time-out juvenile winners, so the fact that
Sharnberry
was so well backed on her debut (in a race that has worked out very well) suggests that she’s reasonably well regarded. Unlucky at Goodwood, she annihilated the 86-rated Hoot at Lingfield and her trainer isn’t one to tilt at windmills.
She looks to have a reasonable chance at 10/1.
I’ve probably lost more backing Margot Did this season than any other horse – £350 at Royal Ascot, £250 at regular Ascot and £300 at York – but am happy to oppose her this time around. But for one race (Albany Stakes), Hayley Turner has been largely appalling on her and with both the ground and stamina-test unlikely to suit I can’t see her coaxing a win out of a horse that needs a strong pace, fast ground and a stiff five furlongs.
Hooray and Maqaasid look like the only dangers.

Hooray
would like the ground!
October 1, 2010 at 23:21 #320379If only we could become machines when we study form, TAPK. Still, your royal blood seems to work the oracle for you most of the time, what with it purportedly being the sport of kings and all!
The large number of meetings sure doesn’t help, but these days, I tend to be too careless in my form study, so that I actually have complete ‘blind spots’, screen horses out, presumably on the basis of a poor memory and/or analysis of the horse in question. I didn’t even think to check Hooray’s form!

Sometimes i need a slap Grimes, your play on words there reminds me of the "Cherry Hinton thread" where i have mentioned the high regard i hold both fillies,i should have checked my notes! As for
Cityscape
,i could see that coming all year but i never had a bet!
October 2, 2010 at 09:03 #320416I have had a Jaber Abdullah treble on
Music Show
4/1,
Lady of the Desert
3/1, and
Youmzain
at 14/1,to £20 as i like all 3"s chances, mind you the thought of £400 running on to the eternal bridesmaid concerns me! i am going to try and get a price on Youmzain finishing 2nd again,i would happily take 5/1 as i know he wouldn"t pass a donkey on Skeggy beach if it meant he was going to win! I have backed him every year so we"ll see!

It’ll be interesting to see how Music Show gets on; Fran Berry gave her an appalling ride in the Matron.

Snap. I’d actually written ‘Cityscape’ on my ante post page with ‘Joel’ next to it, for the race! But my greatest anguish by far last Saturday was to have failed to get my money on in time (£2 – I’ve had a rough time lately)! I’d been following it ‘religiously’, and sure enough it was returned at 20/1. But, ironically, that sort of distractedness hits you more often when you’re up against it.
October 3, 2010 at 09:59 #320600All over your Dickie T today Gord, like a bad rash

Each way bet to nothing if he runs anything like his best!

Couldn"t agree more thm, like you say,all things being equal
Dick Turpin
should be in the 3, 7f on soft ground is ideal and 6/1 is highway robbery! I have had £50 e/w at 6/1 and i have also had to stay loyal to
Regal Parade
with conditions more than suitable so have had £30 e/w at 9/1! Good luck!

October 3, 2010 at 14:20 #320670Well done TAPK, he showed why you were so confident
October 3, 2010 at 15:36 #320704There has defineately been a bit of a lull of late, these are the times when your resolve is tested, its very easy to bet for bettings sake and when you bow to such temptation you inevitably start a losing run. I am as guilty as the next man for chucking the odd fiver away on a race that i have not looked into, more times than not i lose.On the other hand when i study my big race targets and i put what i call a serious wager £50-£100,my strike rate is 2nd to No one bar Tom Segal who i respect as a serious judge on a day to day basis,as far as Ante-Post goes there"s only one King! I noticed Ladbrokes have made a bit of a stand against
Workforce
in being the only bookmaker to offer 10/1 about him winning the Arc,now Ladbrokes are notorious for their "Early warning system" reflecting in their prices and when they are biggest it usually means Non runner in the Ante-Post world but on this occassion i am putting my faith in Sir Michael freshening the Derby winner up for a trip to Paris and have had £100 e/w at 10/1,obviously Fame and Glory,Sariska and Youmzain have my utmost respect but none possess the toe of this fellow,he will handle any ground too which helps!
October 3, 2010 at 15:40 #320707Well after over 25yrs of betting horses i am well accustomed to the lean spells of not only backing losers but also finding something to bet on.The days of having to have a bet on a daily basis have long gone, thankfully i have never been one of 90% of all gamblers and been a mug punter so i can sit tight when i need to! Having said that i am absolutely convinced
Workforce
is a bloody certainty for the Arc and yet not a dicky bird is being said about his well being or any foreseeable plans! Mind you we have been here before, nothing was ever said about Workforces chances of lining up for this years Derby after a poor show in the Dante. What does help is when you see significant support for your horse and again Workforce came in from 16"s to 6"s for the Derby and is doing virtually the same for the Arc.TAPK isn"t the legendary ruler of the Ante-Post kingdom for nothing and these are the times when you have to put your head on the block and take a calculated risk, thats why i have had another £100 on at 7/1 with the Tote! There is nothing in the race he cant beat, the risk is will he turn up,but that sums up Ante-Post betting!
October 3, 2010 at 15:56 #320714I have backed

I wont include the bets i have from above as i didn"t put them on the forum but another 2k goes into my many accounts! Not bad for someone who talks so much Shyte!
