I think its forecast price ws was 6s or 7s in one of the morning papers, so pro journalists sounded interested n it too.
September 15, 2010 at 20:18 #317695Well after over 25yrs of betting horses i am well accustomed to the lean spells of not only backing losers but also finding something to bet on.The days of having to have a bet on a daily basis have long gone, thankfully i have never been one of 90% of all gamblers and been a mug punter so i can sit tight when i need to! Having said that i am absolutely convinced
Workforce
is a bloody certainty for the Arc and yet not a dicky bird is being said about his well being or any foreseeable plans! Mind you we have been here before, nothing was ever said about Workforces chances of lining up for this years Derby after a poor show in the Dante. What does help is when you see significant support for your horse and again Workforce came in from 16"s to 6"s for the Derby and is doing virtually the same for the Arc.TAPK isn"t the legendary ruler of the Ante-Post kingdom for nothing and these are the times when you have to put your head on the block and take a calculated risk, thats why i have had another £100 on at 7/1 with the Tote! There is nothing in the race he cant beat, the risk is will he turn up,but that sums up Ante-Post betting!

September 20, 2010 at 14:49 #318436Come on TAPK! Get a ripple on. Been waiting for some more of your fancies.
Some good pro tipsters seem to think a lot of Victoire De Lyphar, so I’ve put a bob on him for the Ayr Gold Cup.
You not been watching Racing UK Grimes? Nick Luck bowed down to me last night live on air!
I told himTotal Command
was freely available at 55"s on the machine for the St Leger and would run a big big race! Then there is
Workforce
for the Arc at 10"s
Ransom Note
for the Cambridgeshire at 12"s,
Ajaan
for the Cesarewitch at 25/1!
Victoire de Lyphar
is the most progressive horse in the Ayr Gold Cup but Dandy has Tajneed,Striking Spirit,Redford and of course
Evens and Odds

I’ve had a hunch about Ajaan, too, TAPK, and bet on him on his last two runs. What do you reckon of Redford fr the Challenge Cup? Two horses that are very well-weighted are Gallagher (who I most fancy) and Bonny Charlie.

Grimes i thought Gallagher was going places after a very bright 2yo campaign, his 2nd in the Group 2 Mill Reef was a super effort, unfortunately i have seen nothing since, his last run in a handicap at Goodwood was probably his best effort for a long time! Good luck with him! Funnily enough Bonnie Charlies best effort was also at 2 when he finished 2nd to Evasive in a Group 3,his profile is not unlike that of Gallagher!! I like the look of
Redford
and
Al Muheer
myself!
September 21, 2010 at 22:36 #318665I did put £5 at 10s on Redford the moment I read in the Sporting Life, he would be unlikely to run in handicaps again.
I think he has a 6 lb penalty, so I expect he got off lightly, as he won so well.
September 22, 2010 at 09:26 #318693Dandy knows
Redford
has been hit hard for his Ayr Gold Cup victory and should he run in any future handicaps his mark will be 106 so he has 3lb to play with on Saturday! Trouble is Redfords style of running costs him 2lb and a bad draw will cost him another 1lb,at least he proved at Ayr he really was a group horse running in a handicap! I have had an interest of £25 e/w at 7/1 with the Tote for the Challenge Cup!

In the medium to long run, I think ew generally makes sense in those big cavalry charges, as they not normally a good betting medium imo. Well, on my record, I suppose.
But I laugh now at the saying I read years ago, "The bigger the field, the bigger the certainty"! It must have been a bookmaker who thought that one up. Though, of course, some horses tend to fare better in big fields than others, and you occasionally know a horse is in a different class.
I’ll never forget Harwood’s Cataldi, who’d recently finished 3rd in a show of heads in the Champion stakes or some such, in a time that broke Brigadier Gerrard’s track record – and he was about a third of the way down the long handicap. Double figure odds too!
September 23, 2010 at 10:20 #318862I remember
Cataldi
winning the Lincoln Grimes,10/1fav if i remember correctly, made virtually all and pulled clear inside the 2 pole! It was a bog that day up at Doncaster,i dont recall him running in a Group 1,unless he was pacemaking for the likes of
Rousillon
!
September 23, 2010 at 12:25 #318884I was hoping connections of
Red Jazz
were going to put him away for the season 3 runs ago as i am convinced he has the makings of a Group 1 winner,i would have thought over 6f too! However Barry Hills knows the time of day and if he thinks his horse is capable of a good show in Saturdays QE11 then that will do for me,he only has 4l to make up on Makfi on their Guineas run and i reckon he must have physically improved from May,i also believe the faster the ground the better! I had £5 on at 200"s yesterday afternoon and by last night he was 290"s!! however he now trades at 60"s due to the withdrawel of Canford Cliffs! I have also had £15 e/w at 66/1 with Corals so 3rd place will still show a profit!

Wow. Sounds a good idea.
I had a feeling about a week ago, when I saw Makfi was being bet, that some people knew something. I know Makfi beat CC when they met, and the need to hold the latter up could have led to a similar scenario, but even so, I wondered if CC was going to run or something was amiss in some way.
Anyway, I must have a look at Red Jazz’s profile and se what cooks. Thanks for the advice.
September 24, 2010 at 19:56 #319141Call me a lemming but
Valery Borzov
is jumping off the page at me for tomorrows 3.10 at Haydock, running off a mark of 85 on very soft ground and drawn to lead straight down the middle i cant go past him even if the majority of his competitors have been doing so lately,i have to give him another chance now he ticks every box other than recent form! I have had £50 e/w at 9/1 with William Hill!
£3281September 25, 2010 at 15:26 #319278Gordon, well done. Another 2 very good shouts. Could never have had Red Jazz, so very well done.

Cheers Zarkava, i have always held
Red Jazz
in the highest of regard and he will make a formidable 4yo,for a couple of seconds i thought he was going to win and be my 1st ever 200/1 winner!
Valery Borzov
on the other hand is becoming frustrating,he was backed like a handicap good thing again but failed miserably!

Redford
well that was a sweet victory for more than one reason and won just like he did last week!
September 27, 2010 at 11:31 #319646Congratulations on Red Jazz from me too, TAPK. Like Zarkava, I thought it might have been a bit fanciful. I should have had the same faith in your knowledge of the time of day, as you had in Barry Hills’ knowledge thereof!
I posted here too similar effect the other day, but can’t find it, so must have left it temporarily, and been distracted, so it wasn’t temporarily!
The other day I accidentally double-clicked on something. I hate wasting energy. But this has been a bit more labour-intensive. But all in a good cause. Genius deserves recognition. Not that I want to swell your bonce to imperial proportions, you understand. Or is it too late?
Any road up, as I’m told they say in Coronation Street, looking forward to your next advice with great interest.
September 27, 2010 at 18:59 #319738Cheers Grimes,TAPK is considering a TV appearance on either Racing UK or Channel 4"s Morning line,i have sent quotes from TRF i have written and as you know some of them are legendary!I would like the Morning Line if Jim Mcgrath,John Francome and John McCririck were on with Nick Luck hosting as all 4 are the most knowledgeable in their fields,Form,Horses, betting and presenting! Nick knows of me and the intro would be "Our very special guest this week is Royalty and his knowledge of Ante-Post betting is legendary,he writes for "The Racing Forum" and was the 1st person to put up
Workforce
for this years Derby before he even made his seasonal debut, gasps from hangers on! Its TAPK, "The Ante-Post King",i then make my entrance to Eye of the Tiger by Survivor and seat myself in my special throne before cross examination begins!
September 27, 2010 at 19:03 #319739TAPK
I still think Behkabad will win but i did back Workforce at 7/1 a few weeks back. what is best price you got for him to win arc.
And what you think of Conduct tomorrow i put him up in my new thread here in horses to follow.
