The Hackwood stakes over 6f at Newbury tomorrow is a Group 3 and yet

    Regal Parade

gets in without a Group 1 penalty. He beat tomorrows joint fav High Standing in the Betfred Sprint, who in turn comfortably beat Markab, the other joint fav,so on a line through both favs Regal Parade has an outstanding chance of winning and at 7/1 i have had £40 on to win! I like Group 1 winners in Group 3 races without penaltys!

That ones for you Mr W

    As big a certainty as

    Prime Exhibit

was at Wolverhampton the other night for the same owners! Their other good thing is still 33/1 for the Stewards Cup after finishing 2nd last year and is handicapped to go one better! You know the name!

If Corm can include "Quote of the year" in this years prestigious awards ceremony, then the above would be favourite closely followed by 10 more of mine Mr W! I can see why you are becoming obsessed with me!

I have no doubts about the quality of this years 3yo"s and i reckon

    Dick Turpin

will show in the "International" at York on Tuesday that they are well up to scratch,a 11/4m on goodish ground will pose no problems for this ever improving son of Arakan and i can see him winding it up from 3 out,Byword would be my main danger if there is any cut as i dont think Twice Over or Rip Van Winkle will appreciate it. I have had a £100 win at 6"s on the machine and a £25 win on Byword as insurance at 5"s!

I have been saying it for a couple of months now, that

    Total Command

is my idea of a St Leger horse,i have taken 14/1 with the Tote to £50 e/w. It is reassuring to know that Sir Michael has the same plan and to see him entered in the Great Voltigeur at york next week bodes well,16"s for that looks very tempting although i expect he wont be cherry ripe with Doncaster only 3 weeks away, he has to run well and be in the 3 if he has any realistic chance of winning the oldest classic as the Voltigeur is undoubtedly the best trial for the big one. He is a full brother to Quiff and will certainly handle any ground,i also believe he has further improvement to come. I like this horse a lot and at the prices he is too big for both races![list:22be7u04][/list:u:22be7u04]

I cant resist the prices of

    Total Command

for tomorrows Great Voltigeur and have had £30 to place at 100/30, £10 win at 18"s on the machine and £20 win at 14/1! I do think both Rewilding and Midas Touch look proper Leger horses but i can see a quirkyness in both that bothers me! we"ll see!

Haven’t been for ages, if The Leger winner was in yesterday’s field, then he finished third

    I was kind of hoping

    Total Commands

dismal performance was down to stable welfare but then The Fonz and Rosika run right up to their best! Still pondering what to make of Total Command after that but i know he"s better than yesterdays no show!

On another thread someone suggested that even when there is a bug about in a stable some of the older horses seem to be unaffacted and may have built up a resistance in the past I mentioned this to someone in one of the local (non racing) stables and she said thats a very likely scenario.
Might explain today’s runners and Harbinger, of course?

Interesting point Chelters,on yesterdays performance many will write off

    Total Command

    as they have

    Workforce

but he has to be doubtful for the St Leger now!

    The Fonz

ran like a pig last time out too before winning today, form like that never looks good to the cynics!

    I haven"t really fancied

    Sonny Red

since he won under Richard Hughes at Ascot last year off a mark of 96,tomorrow he runs off 92! This fellow was rated 108 when he was with R,Hannon and there comes a time when he has to get back into the winning groove if he retains any ability at all.Dandy knows when this ones time will come and i reckon its tomorrow at Ripon.I have had £10 at 28"s £3 at 23"s and £3 at 21"s just in case!

    Tajneed

    I rate

    Ransom Note

as one of my finds of the season,he reminds me a lot of

    Far Lane

who too was very progressive and also trained by Barry Hills who in turn is 2nd to none when it comes to placing horses.Barry won the Cambridgeshire with another improving 3yo, 20yrs ago in

    Risen Moon

who was ridden by my fav all time jockey Steve Cauthen, the pair went off a very well backed 7/1fav and won comfortably.I remember the race well as i backed my old pal Gilderdale at 66/1 for the race. Anyway i have had £50 e/w at 14/1 with W/Hills for this years Cambridgeshire on

    Ransom Note

I had studied the race on Friday Placemat and

    Tajneed

was quoted as only running if ground conditions were suitable!! Bearing in mind Tajneed performs better on the softer side of good.i was under the impression the ground was on the faster side of it! Tajneed is a Ripon specialist and has beaten Abraham Lincoln from the 6 box this year so the draw wouldn"t have bothered me,his rating was 7lb higher yesterday and 3lb higher from last week but this was a weaker race so again he had to have every chance! My "Cockup" was thinking his stable companion

    Sonny Red

was thrown in and being owned by the same connections as Tajneed would prefer the ground!I had every chance to back Tajneed who ticked plenty boxes and being someone who watches market forces could see he was a well supported favourite!A bad error of judgement i"m afraid on my behalf, thankfully i only had an interest bet of £16 on Sonny Red but i should have really had a good bet on the winner particularly after having a good chat with Trotter about him at Nottingham races the week before about his chances in the Great St Wilfrid! It just goes to show TAPK is only human and not a Robot after all!
