Winning stall numbers for the TB races today were 3, 5, 3, 2, 4 and 4
5 was Puerto Rico who got out well and lead on the fresh ground as did Barnavara from stall 4.

Arab race winner was drawn high, but he’s a very good horse in a much smaller pool of talent.

Think we are talking about two very good horses, the time was fast by 0.23s even though they didn’t appear to go that hard early on, the race was run in a downpour and the first two actually finished up the middle of the course on the ground that was used on Saturday where the 3rd, 4th and 5th came up more towards the inside on the fresher ground.

“Unless you are Golden Horn of course”.

The going in Golden Horn’s Arc was firmer than it was today.
Draw is a lot fairer from a higher draw when the ground is good-firm.

Think they’ll be very pleased with themselves that they’ve saved Estrange for Champions Day.

True but you also might have to use a bit more petrol to get over from a wide draw on faster ground, which is why Frankie sat out wide for a lot longer than many thought was prudent whereas with very soft conditions those at the front might not be in as much of a rush to push the pace from the start (which is kind of what we saw today) so it is probably a little easier to break quick and come across from out wide.

It also helped that Golden Horn was a fair bit classier with more natural speed than most of those that were drawn out wide today.

Fields of 18 and 17 for the handicaps that were the last 2 races.
Winners came from stalls 2 and 3

How long before connections start “doing a Chester” on Arc day? 🤔

Good analysis on the 2025 Arc today in the Post from Keith Melrose and Julian Muscat in his column on the middle-distance domination by the biggest breeding operations. Worth a read!
